…get on the Mods good side? Gifts? Cash? Favours? Intelligent posts? Posting in the correct forum? Mods, please let met know what each of you want - I’ll arrange it…
Each forum has its own standards for how to impress the mods (and all of the other posters, too). In GQ, my home turf, there’s two things that are highly valued: Interesting questions, and informative answers. Witty asides are also nice, but not to the point that there should be more humor than answers.
Of course, chocolate sent to the mods counts for a lot, in any forum.
I value intelligent posts above even chocolate. A good dash of humor is helpful, as well. Just follow the number 1 rule around here, “Don’t Be A Jerk”, and we’ll get along just fine. Moving threads from one forum to another isn’t a HUGE problem with me, especially if the OP has realized his/her mistake and emails or posts in the thread requesting a move to the appropriate forum.
Posting commercials/spamming is the surest way to a quick banning with me.

How do I…
change font size to very small for a “whisper” or an “aside” effect on my posts?
(500 posts and I’m still a rookie…) <— here for example.
mmm…smug, I think I like this thread…I know so much of nothing even after my 600ish posts.
Very small writing, or subscript, is done by “{sub} little words go here {/sub}” where you replace the {} with
Was that clear-ish?
My Q: How do I post links with little underlined words?
Ooo! Good search fuction… I found an answer to my question.
I’ll be hiding in shame now.
Thanks MC -
I found this here too.

Thanks to Showbiz.
The best way to win favor is to become a regular.
If you don’t want to wait, boost your count to a decent level, like 50 say, with a few posts to “test” threads, or this kind of thread:
** [url=“http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=46200”]Let’s take it to a million posts! [/url**
These come up from time to time, and they are especially good to “round off” so you can make an “I hit ____ posts!” thread.
Knowledge rocks the free world.
You said it, Kathryn!
And, with that in mind, I’m sure that the good people of the SDMB would LOVE to see the pictures of you on the “photographer” website. Anyone interested in seeing the two pictures of our fair Kathryn should e-mail her. And if she won’t tell you, e-mail me!
Ignore this so-called advice. barflyer, please click here and scroll down to see what the SD Administration has to say about any sort of post count padding that serves no other purpose. The “Let’s take it to a million” thread seems to provide entertainment for those involved. Most post count paddings don’t. Also, they use bandwidth. Our servers are at full capacity as it is, so it’s easy to understand why post count padding for the sake of it is frowned upon.
In any case, barflyer seems to suggest that a higher post count means that moderators will like you automatically. Although I’m sure most of the posters know this is nonsense, I’ll just repeat it once more. When it comes down to it, your post count does not matter at all..
I’ll echo Lynn, and say I prefer intelligence and humour in posters. As opposed to ignorance and an aggressive attitude.
Shhh! Dan!
None of that. There are no pictures of me on that site. None at all. DRY is talking out of his…um…bellybutton.
My pic is on the people pages, just like it should be.

You calling me a liar, Kathryn?
Hey, everyone. I WAS going to tell you all about the picture that Kathryn thought was “just OK”. I think I’ll point out the one she DOESN’T like, instead!
P.S. This is not post padding.
barflyer, I, for one, can tell you that I do not respect high post counts. What I respect is quality posts. Lok at (Tim) or bigkahuna, for instance. They’re both in the double-digits, at most, but all of their posts are informative, intelligent, and insightful. I respect that. There are other people who are now regulars, that I respect also: With most of those people, it became quickly apparent that they knew what they were talking about, and would be quality posters, before their tenth post. What I don’t respect is people posting meaningless drivel, or one word at a time, or other such inane stunts, for no purpose other than to increase their post count number.
[sub]cool. this was my question also! woo hoo! i’m a small typing freak!!!i love the eradication of ignorance[sub]
