How do Jews regard Christians?

So the part where the Pope says “go forth and convert Jews, just be nice about it” isn’t good enough for you? Not sure what to tell ya.

Rabbi is buddies with the Baptist Minister down the road.
Rabbi and some Congregants were puzzling over why Baptist try and convert Jews. I explained, “It’s what they do. It is the reason for their denomination.” Everyone just stared at me.
And they all moved away from me on the bench.

I didn’t intend to make it sound like anything but answering the question you asked me.

Didn’t see it in your link.

I believe Rabbi Telushkin and CMKeller.

Thank you. Torah is indeed often used by Jews to cover a broad range of texts.

For the record, I was not at all insulted and feel that our interchange served to clarify my original statement.

I’m not a particularly observant Jew, but in my opinion another key difference is that Christianity seems to have much more of a focus on salvation in the afterlife rather than how you should live on Earth, and Protestant Christianity in particular emphasizes what you believe (“sola fide”) over how you act.

I had an evangelical Protestant friend tell me, “Jews believe you have to follow the Old Testament rules to be saved, but Jesus taught us you can be saved by believing in Him.” To which my response was, “Err, saved from what? Jews believe you should follow the rules of the Torah because it’s what G_d told us to do, and because it’s what we agreed to when He made His covenant with us.” And at least in the Hebrew Bible, what happens when the Jews don’t keep their side of the bargain isn’t that they get damned to Hell, it’s that they get conquered by the Babylonians.
