How do pro golfers get the tee to pop straight up after a drive? I’ve played golf for years, and although I’m no pro, you’d think I’d get lucky at least once. Just about every drive I see them hit, the tee pops up out of the ground. How on earth does that happen? It seems it’s a forward and/or down force on the tee, so what makes it go up?
It happens to me on occasion. If you just clip the tee when hitting the ball (on a drive, many pros will hit the ball just as the club starts coming up, instead of on the downswing), and you don’t have it deeply rooted in the ground, it’ll pop up. High swing speed helps. Me, I usually just shear the head off the tee instead.
The pros also are always using very nice and soft tee boxes which aren’t as chewed up as your regular public course.
