How do we play a PS4 game without having to subscribe?

We’ve got a PS4. Haven’t used it for a while. Fired it up today, and every time we try to play a game from a disc (Overwatch) it takes us to a page to subscribe to PS4 stuff.

We just want to play the game that we’ve already bought. Every time I click the X to start the game, it takes us to the subscription page. Pressing “cancel” instead of subscribe takes us back to the “start the game” page, where I press X, and then I get the subscription page.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure there is an offline mode?

This link claims there is not.

I seem to recall having had this same discussion last time we used it. Not big video gamers, obviously.

I’m pretty sure Activision-Blizzard hasn’t released an offline-capable game on any platform in over a decade.
