Umm … not that I smoke. I am referring to the cadre of people who spend 10 minutes out of every hour out back smoking. If they get to goof off, then so do I …
I know I have strict internet monitoring software because
- They told me so, and
- I’ve seen it in action, blocking many sites (which I am told are logged.)
As far as workaround go, there are programs such is Microsoft NetMeeting and VNC that allow you to remotely control the desktop of another computer. This enables you to do your internet access from that computer, and no one would see the web hits come up on your machine.*
- there is no guarantee that this method will work for you.
^ pretend I am literate in the above post.
It’s good to be da boss!
And it helps if you are the only one in the entire building.
I have to say I have SDMB up nearly 100% of the time I’m at the office alone. 1:30-6:30, Mon.-Fri. and every other Sat.
I use the work computer because of the DSL.
I can’t stand dial-up anymore.
I’s spoilt.
It’s been brought up in two of my annual reviews…
Positives: “You’re doing a good job, you expanded you skill set this year, you did X, Y and Z very well…”
Negatvies: “Need to stay focused and spend less time surfing. Less Straight Dope.”
How do I avoid getting caught on the SDMB? I’ve been frequenting another message board more than this one lately.
