Purse or right front pocket. I only know 1 person in his mid 50s who uses a belt clip, and I think it’s weird.
Bolding mine.
 I don’t get this at all. With the belt clip the phone is always where I think it is. Not here or there. It’s not in the way of my keys or other things in my pockets. And personally, I think it’s much better protected, easier to get to, and much more comfortable.
I can’t imagine trying to get used to the thing in a front pocket and fear it would get broken in a back pocket. Maybe they are tougher than I think? Has anyone here ever sat on one and damaged it? I think that must happen.
I buy a belt clip like the one here because I like the rugged front and back case with the kickstand. I then rip the clip off and keep the phone in my right front pocket.
Best of both worlds!
Over 40, no belt clip. In fact, it’s rare that I have my phone on me–it’s usually sitting on the coffee table at home unless I plan on being gone for more than a day or so.
I have a belt clip, but only carry it that way when I don’t have sufficient pockets.
This.
This. And it goes in upside down with the screen facing inward. That way when I retrieve it, it’s ready to go.
The only people I know who use a belt clip (of any age) are rednecks or need to for work.
Never had cigarettes there, but that is where I put mine. Galaxy S4, and I’m well over 40. Belt clips were useful when phones were so big and clunky that they didn’t fit in pockets, but that was a long time ago. I have too much stuff in my front pants pocket for it, and I never use my rear ones.
Over 40, in my hand or front pocket. I’ve never had a belt clip.
I’m 39 and keep mine in my backpack and only take it with me to work. I just have it for emergencies, often I’ll get it out and the battery will be dead because I just never think about it so I try to keep it turned off. Outside of work, I forget and never carry it…kinda defeats the purpose I guess.
I do feel sorry for people so addicted to their phones that they can’t even eat dinner with their families without staring at it constantly.
I answered that I use a belt clip, but what that really means is that I own one and do use it on occasion. I really don’t like the way it looks, but in certain situations it’s safer to carry it that way. When I do use the belt clip, I actually prefer to clip it onto my left front jeans pocket which I don’t otherwise use.
I also use the clip to affix my phone to my nightstand lamp. It’s a great way to stop a cat from knocking it off the table.
When not using the belt clip, the phone goes into my back pocket. I have this nagging worry that one day I’ll forget it’s there and sit down on it really hard, and break it. So I only carry it there on short walking errands during which I don’t expect to be sitting down anywhere.
I’m older than most of you snots and I carry my phone in the left front pocket of my pants. Basically standingwave’s method.
ETA: Most clip carriers are designed to make it more difficult for pickpockets to steal your phone; IOW it takes a little force to pull it out of the carrier, unlike a pocket from which you can easily slide it out. For those not using purses or backpacks, this can be an important thing to consider in certain situations involving crowded public places.
Don’t they have a shoe for that?
Over 40, front left pants pocket or shirt pocket if there is one. It’s a $15 TracFone, LG flip style. I replaced my eight year old $10 TracFone with it because I bought a car with Bluetooth.
I always put my phone in my front pants pocket, so I have never sat on my phone. I don’t put anything in my back pockets because, yes, I imagine it would be uncomfortable.
As someone else said upthread, I keep my phone in a wallet case that not only provides 100 percent 360 degree protection for my phone, I can also put my keys or any other object in my pocket with my phone and never have a second thought or worry about my phone’s protection.
Many moons ago, when I used to wear a phone clip, I dropped my phones all the time, sometimes shattering the screens, especially on the later models. Now, with my phone in my pocket, I never have to worry about dropping it, or having it inexplicably slip out of the holster.
I have also never missed a call because of my phone being in my pocket. Phone rings, I reach in my pocket and pull it out, and have answered the call between the first and second ring. I don’t understand how a call is missed in such a scenario.
I carry mine in my front left pocket, with my car keys.
This poll was so designed for menfolk! Women rarely have belts, and if we do they’re at least partially decorative and we don’t want something attached to them.
My phone goes in my purse, unless I’m wearing pants or a jacket with pockets (cosign all the above ranting re: lack of pockets in women’s clothing), in which case it goes in the front pocket.
Sometimes, when I have no other options, it gets tucked into the bra strap, but that’s usually only for a short time when my hands are full.
My daily work shirts have double pockets, so I carry it in one of those. It’s generally in a jacket or pants pocket when not at work, unless I’m in a dress or something and then it’s in a purse.
Over 40, have never used a belt clip.
