Would that be a reinstatement of the Gephardt Rule, where the debt ceiling was automatically raised (by deem-and-pass) whenever a budget exceeding it was passed? That was too obvious to survive, of course.
Both House and Senate have passed the bill to end the shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. It was not unanimous. Cutting it kind of close there. I have grown to hate the Tea Party with the heat of 5,000 Suns. They’ve ruined my party.
No. The leaders of your party ruined it when they preferred to embrace insanity rather than fall back into a dignified position of loyal opposition.
A conservative is best a person who recognizes the need for progress but urges caution and prudence. Opposing progress because it represents change is reactionary.
Nothing wrong with opposing change in general, I detest it myself, but opposing poor kids having access to health care fellates with great allacrity.
Given that a deal is all-but-done now ( New York Times article, with priceless pic of Boehner ) and we have a new thread asking: “Given this deal how do things play out from here?” (OP by DSeid), may I respectfully suggest that this thread should be closed now, with further discussion to continue over there?
Or, leave this thread open just a bit longer, for the sole purpose of Dopers commenting on that priceless pic of Boehner
I hate change. Just round that shit to the nearest whole dollar.
