I don’t think it’s too hard to explain death to a four year old in their own terms without scarring them. But even if you do scar them a little about death, having a healthy respect for tumbling out of a window today, might be worth having to visit a shrink tomorrow. The difference being, of course, dead people don’t need any help.
I wouldn’t suggest throwing an animal off because, well, then she might think it’s cool to do that to animals. Poor hamsters.
Who cares if bars or anything are against the HOA? Put up a baby-gate deal. Better to fight with the HOA than plan the funeral of your child.
