I’m sitting here looking at my last bottle of bawls (http://www.bawls.com/), and I realized that while superior in its caffeine delivery capability, it is far too unknown to be the most widely used source of that wonderful stimulant. If you ask me, nothing’s better than an icy cold bawls to wake you up in the morning.
So tell me, how do you get your morning fix?
Here’s my most used CDBs (Caffeine Delivery Beverage)
Bawls (1-5 a day, depending on what i need)
Diet Coke (0-10 a day, depending on availability)
Jolt Cola (rare for me, but when i can…)
Crappy 7-11 coffee on workdays and a nice large latte from a local coffee shop (they aren’t open early so I subsist on the 7-11 stuff during the week) on weekends. Ya gotta have something to celebrate Saturdays
These guys seriously rock. Caffeinated GUM, fa Chrissakes.
One thing to do-if you don’t mind climbing the walls for three days-is to take Water Joe and make espresso with it. I think there’s a warning against this specific practice on the label, but hey, there’s a warning label saying “Contents are not for inhaling” on nitrous canisters.
What the hell else is that stuff for?
Most days I brew my own, generally Cafe Nica Full City Roast from Equal Exchange (caffeine and political correctness! and it’s organic!) A nice big mug gets me ready to walk the kids to the bus stop.
I go for the NYC street coffee cart stuff. I was raised on 7-Eleven and other crappy deli coffee and I can’t be exposed to Starbucks and other sheeshy coffees for too long.
If for some reason I forget my morning large (avec 3 Sweet N Lows), I have been known to drink Coca-Cola shortly after arriving at the office.
Tazo Earl Grey tea in the morning, from a 0.5 liter stein my brother got for me in Germany. And when that’s done I start on the Diet Coke. Around 4-6 every day.
And it bugs me when people tell all that caffeine isn’t good for me, 'cuz I have to convince them that by time I finish my sixth one in the evening, I just matched their second cup of coffee.
Coke! Any way, shape, form, or flavor though the stuff in glass bottles in Mexico seems to somehow taste better shrug I must drink either Coca Cola or Dr Pepper every day, it’s just a habiot now though I think the effect is starting to wear off it takes about 4 cans to get me a semi bouncy high now. I love cappuchino too, it’s all yummy…
Otherwise I get Wa-Wa’s Dark Roast coffee. One 20-ounce on the way to work, and one on the way home. Sometimes I’ll mix a half-cappachino-half-dark-roast.
Before going to bed every night, make a large pot of Assam tea, let the leaves sit in the pot overnight. Strain it in the morning, heat it in the microwave, serve with condensed or evaporated milk and sugar.
Yuuuum.
Billy Bragg was right, though, you can’t get a good cup of tea in the States. Either they bring you some wimped out tisane, or they bring you a pot of hot water with the bag sitting on a plate next to it. Don’t they realize that the boiling water has to be poured directly onto the leaves or bag? This isn’t coffee guys, you have to use boiling water, not just hot.
A large, ice-cold cup of fountain Diet Pepsi. Filled to the brim. Little bubbles clinging to the straw. Ice clinking with that wonderful muted ice-against-wax sound. Beads of condensation forming on the outside of the cup, making it slippery in my hand…
I don’t drink coffee, but I have brought the craving for diet soda to the level of an art form. Cutting myself off during pregnancy nearly killed me.
