Assuming you live somewhere that requires bed covers (somewhere cool/cold at bed time) how do you like em?

It varies for me. During spring and summer I sleep under a light blanket.
During fall and winter, I sleep under as many blankets and sheets as I can find. Last night I was under a sheet, and 4 blankets. I like my room to be cold when I sleep though, so during winter that many blankets are really needed. There have been times I’ve gotten up and my glass of water has frozen over night due to how cold my room is.
Where’s the ‘It depends on the time of year’ option?
We’re coming into summer at the moment and a cotton sheet is almost too much at night for me now. Mid-July (ie mid winter) I snuggle under a continental quilt.
A sheet, one blanket and the comforter, which is quite heavy by itself. I get rid of the blanket in summer.
Voted the last option (sorry) because there was no option for “varies depending on the weather.”
When it’s hot outside, I prefer a cotton sheet coupled with a thin comforter.
When it’s cold outside, I prefer flannel sheets coupled with a thin comforter.
When it’s moderate outside, I can sometimes make due with just a flannel sheet.
When I’m in the throes of hot flashes, I throw everything off the bed, including my husband and dog.
I also need a “depends on the time of year” option. Also, I don’t use blankets. Light, thin quilts most of the year, down comforter in winter.
I like the house cool, especially at night - not so cool my water glass freezes over, though! Which in summer means keeping the bedroom AC set on “Arctic” on really hot, muggy nights and in winter (Michigan) leaving the thermostat at about 60.
The big dogs prefer it cool as well, the little dog hates cooler temperatures but she’s the only one allowed on the bed, and she makes a nest under the comforter.
In the summer, we’ve got the ceiling fan on and the air blowing down always chills me, so it’ll be a sheet and blanket then. We’re now getting the brisk-and-chilly time of year, and I’ll have the sheet, a blanket, and a comforter. The blanket is electric. I’ll turn it on before bedtime to warm the sheets, then turn it off once I go to bed.
I may also have a cat plastered to my side, stealing my body heat…
LOL- I picked “stupid” just because I thought it was funny. All your poll answers are pretty funny!
And, of course, my preference is not listed.
I like a down comforter in a comforter cover. It’s just one big thing, so it’s easy to make the bed.
I have different covers for different seasons/uses- warmer, lighter, heavier, cottony, flannel, decorated, plain, etc., but I keep the down comforter all year. In the summer I shove the down off to the sides and poke my feet out, and in the winter I fluff the down back to the middle and fold the end under my feet for extra warmth.
Ahh - I knew it was a mistake to post a poll in the middle of the night when awake with a migraine, and yet I did it anyway. I AM kind of stupid.
For anyone who gets to this post before voting (read: nobody) please vote for the time of year when you would be using your HEAVIEST bed covers.
Also, ‘blanket’ can mean whatever you want it to mean - thin quilt, microfiber whoosit, duvet, whatever. Unless you sleep under actual animal pelts, please treat ‘blanket’ as a catchall and feel free to elaborate.
Carry on.
Hot weather - a sheet.
Medium weather - a sheet plus a thin duvet.
Cold weather - a sheet plus a thick duvet.
A sheet with a thin blanket in summer, quite heavy in the winter.
Checked “This poll is stupid.”
I sleep under a sheet and comforter.
In summer, a sheet or nothing, ceiling fan on medium, naked.
In winter, a sheet and a thin blanket, no fan, naked. The room is about 62 degrees at night. Not enough for me to wake up with ice on my penis, but I like it chilly. My wife is the same but occasionally also drapes her robe over her on top of the blanket.
I sleep under a duvet. We rotate three duvets throughout the year, depending on the cold/heat. I don’t like a large number of blankets and don’t feel comfortable sleeping under all that weight, but I know some people love that.
You don’t have an option for “just one blanket”. Now the thickness of the blanket varies throughout the year, but I cannot stand having too much weight on me.
Heavy - I’d even buy one of those weighted blankets physical therapists use if I could figure out a way to launder it. But leave them untucked please.
I used to use a down comforter in the winter, but then my sister gave me a really pretty patchwork quilt, which I like to use as the top layer. Summer, that’s folded down at the foot of the bed at night and I sleep under a sheet; winter, it’s up and over a couple of thermal blankets.
I need an option for light but very warm.
I use a silk duvet and while it weighs only a little more than the sheet it’s wonderfully warm and cozy. I bought my first one on a whim at a home show about 10 years ago and a couple of years ago I found a two new ones to replace it. I now have an even lighter one for summer and the original weight for winter.
I’m allergic to feathers so I can’t have down but I imagine that even if down was an option this would still be wonderful.
I have found that a duvet provides good insulation in summer when it’s hot too.
Sorry, I had to vote for the last option because you didn’t put in an “other”.
I sleep with just a single light blanket, no sheet.
