I recently read that Ford and Saturn are going to make hybrid versions of their explorer and vue models for 2004.
I’m seriously considering one (probably the explorer), my wife and I want the comfort and (big penis) prestige of an SUV, I just can’t justify the wasted gas ethically. This seems like a nice compromise.
Does anyone own a hybrid? What are they like? Should I wait till the technology advances more? Maintenance? Anything I should know?
I bought a Honda insight new in 2000 and love it. Great gas milage, cofortable ride, the only knock I have now is the lack of space to carry stuff. (My other grip was lack of ashtray but I did quit smoking so it is a non-issue).
I am averaging right around 68mpg. Pickup is 0-60 in about 9 seconds and the top speed is right at 105 (I have only gotten it up to 96 and that was because I was not paying attention.
I also enjoyed a nice 2000 dollar tax credit for buying one.
Besides the regular scheduled matinance I have had a glitchy thermostat sensor. It would flip out if I would run the engine and open the hood.
All in all a nice car.
