How do you make your home smell good?

I’d never heard of either of these! “Thieves Oil” sounds so irresponsible! What if it attracts thieves? (Grin!) What is Ozium? What do these things smell like (in rough terms…)

re candles, will unscented candles do any good, like those votive candles that are sometimes used under food-warming pans? i.e., does just having a source of combustion active help “burn up” bad odors?

In another thread, I asked if anyone knows what it is that hotels/motels use to give their rooms that “fresh motel room” scent. Is it a specific brand of disinfectant they tend to use? I like that smell, and wouldn’t mind my home smelling that way.

That sounds wonderful - I wonder if you could do the same thing with strawberries. I love the smell of fresh strawberries.

My advice for the OP - paint the entire interior of your house with one coat of Kilz then two coats of latex paint - it worked wonderfully for us.

(Or you could buy one of those air sponges - they work pretty good, too.)

I go outside, the house smells better right away.

I rotate candles & misc air fresheners through the winter, when my tea olive isn’t in bloom.
I have to bring it in during the coldest part of winter since I moved 1 zone lower than it is supposed to handle.

Tea olives are my favorite scent!

Well, I just got back from the smell good store (i.e. Walmart) and tested many scented oils. One of them was called “Fresh Linen” which I’m sure is the smell you’re looking for.

Anyway, I bout a warming pot and some scented oils. We’ll see how that works.

Frying bacon aroma goes really well with caramelized onion essence. Garlic, basil, and rosemary are good additions, too.

Add some broth and a potato, baby you got a stew going.
