Rhymes with shares to me. Saying wah-rez is kinda silly.
I’ve been told ‘wares’ is the correct way to pronounce it (as that’s what it’s a misspelling of), though I tend to emphasise the ‘z’ a bit to make it clear I’m referring to warez not just any wares. The same way you can tell when “l33t d00d” has zeros in 
Okay, this seems like the appropriate place to ask: What are warez? I’ve wondered about this for a while. I’m under the impression that it is computer related, but that is about it.
It’s usually pronounced “illegal”, though some prefer the alternative “stolen”.
I didn’t want to give my opinion until a few people had posted. A friend of mine pronounces it like “Juarez” and it’s one of those things that just irk the hell outta me! Obviously I’m a “wares” kind of guy, although I have to agree with shade in that I usually make sure I get that ‘z’ sound in there.
