How do you "rate" things on the 'net?

I rate a lot of stuff, in general.

However, there are three places where I rate a LOT.

  1. Netflix
  2. Rhapsody music (for when I want to stream according to my tastes).
  3. My local public radio station’s HD music stream over the 'net.

Here’s how I rate items:

If I like it, I give it the most stars possible. If I don’t, the least number.

I don’t bother with two out of five or three out of five or four out of five.

If I like it, I want more of it, and more like it. If I don’t…I don’t.

The only time I would rate something with “tween” stars would be items I buy on Amazon or other places (electronic items or books or whatever). The reason for that is I want to be honest to others considering the items. Every item has positives and negatives, and people need to know them to make informed buying decisions.

But art…it’s so subjective. Again, if I don’t like something, I don’t ever want to hear it again, and I don’t want to hear anything similar. And the opposite is true.

How 'bout you?

There are movies I like – they get three stars. There are movies I like a lot – they get four stars. There are movies I love – they get five stars.

If I can’t get past the first five minutes of a movie, it gets one star. If I don’t finish watching it but watch more than five minutes, it gets two stars.

Pretty much what twickster said. Three out of five is my default, and two is pretty common. My average is usually somewhere around 2.6 to 2.7.
