How do you go about reading the Dope? Do you go to certain forums first? Do you use the “New Posts” link? Do you look for the top title teaser thread for each forum?
Personally, I go about it pretty randomly, maybe starting at Cafe Society or the Pit, then GQ or where ever the heck I feel like it. It just doesn’t feel very efficient though.
I go in each of the forums that have new messages in order with the exception of Cafe Society (which I have no interest in) and check each thread with new responses that has an interesting title. Depending how interesting the title looks, “checking” may involve actually clicking on the thread title to open it, or just hovering over it to see the first little bit of the text.
I’m about the same. Browse around untill I find something interesting and then click on it.
I check the User Control Panel first, which displays all the threads I am subscribed to. Then I check GD, GD, and the Pit, in that order. Rarely go into IMHO, almost never into MPSIMS, unless I am really bored.
I always hit the “new posts” link and then go through them. I usually stay away from The Pit and GD, but sometimes I don’t realize that a post is in either one of those if I’m not paying attention.
I had said essentially the same thing in way more words, so I just deleted it before posting. This works for me.
I just hit new posts over and over like a lab rat with a brain wire. Sometimes I’ll check out a forum directly, but it’s usually new posts.
New Posts almost exclusively, unless I want to start a thread. Then I have to go into the particular forum.
I check threads in which I’ve posted, then go on to GQ, CS, IMHO, then MSPIMS. I avoid the pit & GD. I open each forum, open the threads that look interesting in a new window, and repeat for page 2 of each forum. Read the threads, then move to the next forum.
If I’ve been on the dope all day, I might hit new posts, but I really only view from work, so that doesn’t happen all that much.
I don’t subscribe to threads, and I’ve never used the New Posts feature once. I always cycle though the forums, usually CS, IMHO, MPSIMS, The Pit, GQ and then maybe GD, but unlikely.
Yes, you do. You are automatically subscribed to a thread whenever you post to it.
The order I go in is usually the UCP to check threads I’ve posted in, then IMHO, MPSIMS, The Pit, and last GD. I rarely read Cafe Society or GQ.

Not if you adjust your User CP to not subscribe to any threads.
I start at the Pit and work my way up. On the way up, I may or may not stop to see what’s in GD. I definitely will if I’m having a case of insomnia.
Random browsing. I usually stick to MPSIMS, IMHO, and CS. If I’m bored, the Pit. If I’m REALLY bored, GQ and GD.

No particular order, but I can say that I don’t move my lips while reading the Dope!
New Posts is on my bookmarks toolbar. Go through and load everything I’m interested in as separate tabs. Read them, answer them. Repeat to catch anything I missed.
