How do you remove cuticles

I have cuticles around my fingernails and I don’t know how to get rid of them. I was at the dollar store and bought a fingernail clipper set that had a few other manicure items in it, one was a cuticle remover. HOwever the remover seens to be a sort of fork thing and I don’t know how to use it.

Am I supposed to put some kind of cuticle remover lotion on my cuticles, let it sit then rip them off with the fork thing or what?

You can buy cutitle trimmers, which are better than finger nail clippers. They allow you to get closer to the skin without slicing/cutting it like finger nail clippers. Usually about $10-15. There is cuticle cream ( $3ish) that you can put on, wait a few moments and push back with a cuticle stick ( $1).

One of the best investments I ever made was cuticle trimmer thingies. I’ve had mine for probably 12 years and can trim the hang nails when they start to drive me nuts.
I’m not sure what the fork thing is you are talking about.

Is this a cuticle trimmer? This is the fork thing i’m talking about because at the end it breaks off into two small prongs

What purpose does a cuticle pusher have. Does it loosen the cuticle or something.

Oh! That thingy.
That one took me a while too.
You kind of …hmm.
You just…
Aw, heck. Give it here and I’ll just show you.

Seriously it’s like you just slide it up your cuticle and it kind of just cuts it off.
I don’t know how to describe it better than that.

Forgot the most important part: Go with the grain!
I just do the cuticles on the sides of my nails.
Apply gentle pressure and slide it up along and it will trim it off.
It must be pretty sharp in the fork part.

I assume I have to put some kind of cuticle cream on beforehand though, but what is the cuticle pusher for.

To cut cuticles, I always do it dry.
To push cuticles down, always moisten.
It keeps you from getting hang nails if you keep your cuticles pushed down…at least it does in my case. I haven’t had one since I started keeping them down.
Just use the flat angled side to gently push them down until you see some the half moons.

Maybe i’m confused about what a cuticle is. Is a cuticle the thick flaky skin on the side of your fingernail, the part where your fingernail meets the skin on the side or is it the white skin on the top of your fingernail that covers the curved part?

Using a cuticle remover on dry skin for the thick skin side of my finger doesn’t sound appealing. Maybe a file will work better for those things.

PS: I am not gay. Not that theres anything wrong with that.

Hmm…good question.
I thought it refered to the skin all around the nail.
You just treat the different sections differently.

It’s like cutting hair as long as you don’t cut too deep; you don’t feel a thing.

To trim your cuticles, do this:

Put cuticle cream on your cuticles and let it sit until your cuticles are soft, or do it after a shower when your skin is softer.

Use an orange stick or a metal stick (comes with cuticle kits) and push your cuticles back. That will separate the cuticles from your nail, then just cut off the cuticle with the cuticle trimmer. The cuticle should be loose and you should get a nice, close cut. It shouldn’t hurt when your trim your cuticles.

Good luck!

Ah ha!
Someone with actual knowledge!
Well, can’t say I didn’t try.

Go get a manicure. The manicurist will help determine where to trim so you don’t bleed to death. Its really hard to trim your right hand, and if you’ve never trimmed them before, its best to have someone else give it a go first.

Then invest in Creative Nails Cuticle Eraser. Massage onto nails nightly and you’ll never need to use the cuticle clippers.
