I’m a naked sleeper, too. I usually fall asleep tossing and turning, either on my left side, with my left arm underneath my pillow, or flat on my back. I tend to have more anxiety for some reason on my left side, even though it’s physically more comfortable for me. I cannot sleep on my stomach; it hurts my neck.
Naked, face down, head facing right, and left arm stretched across my body underneath my head. I’ve been doing this as long as I can remember.
If the girlfriend is over, I sleep the same way except on the floor (I don’t sleep well with others).
I can’t sleep at night, not since that fateful night. Eventually the screams in my head lessen in intensity but are never silenced.
Heh, flat on my face. Usually my pillow is bunched up under my face and possibly. It is impossible to sleep on my back. When I awaken, I am usually sprawled in some random direction with the sheets in twisted shambles.
I seem to have a preference for my left side, though if I wake up in the middle of the night I’ll switch. It’s probably something like 50% left, 30% right 20% back. Though if it’s on a mattress that’s too soft then it has to be on my back.
Odd, my accusers ask me that all the time.
Seriously, though, on my right side. I know people are supposed to move around a lot in their sleep but not me. Once I’m in position, I usually stay that way all night. Occasionally I’ll wake up on my back but not very often at all.
I dearly would love to sleep on my belly as that’s the most comfortable way but I hate waking up with my face mushed into the inevitable puddle of drool that accumulates when in this position.
Either side, but mostly front, probably. I kind of sleep in the recovery position. But with the top shoulder more down on the bed.
I always have a pillow, stuffed animal or cat to wrap my arms around or I can’t sleep. I can sometimes get by crossing my arms as I would when standing, but that hurts my wrist lately.
Anyone ever consider the position they are lying in and think “This would look absurd if I were standing up”… Makes me giggle when I do.
Or maybe I’m the only one.
I sleep in my computer/desk chair.
Badly, at the moment.
But usually on my side, slight preference to the right, in pajamas.
I used to sleep on my left side, but I strained my left arm once, and since then find it more comfortable to sleep on the right. When I’m sick, though, having a hard time breathing with colds etc., I sleep on my back.
I move so much before I fall asleep it is hard to say, but I think the majority is on my right side. Occasionally I will lay on my stomach, but never my back.
On my side, usually. If I sleep on my back I get nightmares.
Flat on my back with my hands at my side if I’m sleeping in the bed I share with my husband. Flat on my back with an arm around my son if I’m sleeping in his bed.
Mostly on my left side with my left arm extended straight out from my body. I switch over to my right side some of the time. But rarely on my back and never on my stomach. (It’s gotten too big! )
Pssst: supine means on the back, prone means on the stomach.
What’s weird for me is trying to imagine a room in which, when lying on one’s side, one isn’t facing a wall.
For some reason, if I fall asleep on my back, my hands fall asleep. Doesn’t matter where I keep them, on my chest, at my sides, under my pillow behind my head, whatever.
I get better sleep in the fatal position, hugging a body pillow.
On my right side, tipped more towards my stomach than my back, preferably facing the “open” side of the bed. I keep my bed against a wall on the long side; if I’m in a bed that’s in the middle of the room, I stay on the side that lets me face open air rather than a huge expanse of bed.
That’s the other important thing- I like narrow beds. I keep the fold down “couch” back of my dorm room bed down, so that twin size bed is about 1/3 thinner than normal. This example photo shows what I’m talking about. At home, I’ve still got several stuffed animals to help narrow my bed, and generally a lot of books scattered on the bed too.
Every so often I’ll fall asleep flat on my back with my arms “up” (they’d be up if I was standing; parallel to my body) but that’s one of those freak occurences.
I am sleeping lay straight in my bed. Some times turn to left or right.
