How do you split your time watching NCAA Football?

Another thread has raised the issue of game time scheduling. Perhaps someone else will take this poll as a starting point to investigate further.

The options are simple. From 0% to 100% in 10% increments, what part of your own time do you spend watching games live in the stadium versus TV time?

One game a year in stadium. If I can get tickets. Missed the last two years.

When I lived in Houston, I was at SOME game about every other weekend.

As for TV, I don’t make plans to watch anything but the big ones for that season, but I often end up watching at least part of a game each weekend. It doesn’t rule my weekend, but I enjoy it if I’m at home.

I think lifetime I’ve watched about 40 Penn State games live, and about 100 of them on TV. But I’ve watched enough other college games on TV in my life to make it about 10-90.

I only attended one college football game since I stopped playing. I got to watch the Irish get their only win of the season against UCLA a couple of years ago.

I enjoy going but I haven’t lived near a team I care about in a long time. Heck I still had to drive over 3 hours to get to Pasadena there is no way I could do that every weekend.

I don’t really like college football, but I suppose it’s better than watching no football at all. I haven’t been to the Big House in a year or so (the last game I saw there was when Oregon annihilated Michigan).

The last live college game I saw was in 1987 when my Dad (an Auburn man) took my wife, my daughter and me (all Vandy people) to the Auburn-Vandy game in Nashville. We all rooted for Auburn. Auburn won.

Before moving to Nashville and even some time afterward, I’d make it a point to see at least the Iron Bowl. But all my live college football is at least 20 years old.

I haven’t even been tempted to deal with the hassle of getting to a live game. I’m glad others do go, but the thrill is gone for me.

While I am in college and get free tickets it is skewed toward live. And also I didn’t watch NCAA football until I got to college.

I haven’t been to a live game in about 10 years or so. Don’t really intend to go again. I prefer to watch the games on TV. No hassles with crowds, parking, drunks, bathroom lines, etc., plus I can actually see more on TV, and get the instant replays, analysis, and the ability to flip channels to check other games too.

Every now and then, I think about attending an ASU game. But then I remember how I really don’t like dealing with all the drunk puking college kids when I can’t even get a beer in the stands. I"m not tailgating for ASU in 110 degree weather before the game.

Plus, if the game is a blowout, I can easily change the channel.

I got season tickets for my WSU Cougs. :)…:frowning:

I usually see all the home games (plus any game they have in Seattle). I’ve also been trying to do one away game a year. All in all I saw 8 games last year and I think I’ll get in 7 games this year (glutton for punishment I guess).

Interesting numbers in the poll - I didn’t think it’d work out as well as that. But I guess the weeks I go up to South Bend for a game, I’m not watching any other games that day on TV. Some years, I’ve caught all of the home games - others not any. I picked 10%, but it could be as high as 60% some years. I went with 10% because the days I do watch football on TV, I watch a LOT of football on TV.

Twenty-seven votes is hardly enough to draw any strong conclusions from, but it’s looking like Dopers prefer TV to stadium watching.

The issue over TV audience appears to be well-founded.
