How Far Do You Live From an Interstate Highway?

I’m 6.4 miles west of the 405.

I live next to I-275 but am bad at judging distances. The nearest entrance ramp is a mile away.

About 6 miles from both I-285 and I-20. For that matter about the same to I-75/85 through downtown Atlanta too.

A little over a mile here.

2.3 miles driving, and about 1 mile as the crow flies from I-75. However those two directions are 90 degrees from each-other.

I’m less than half a mile from I-280.

If we’re talking a loop highway with an I-number, but not really the interstate proper, then slightly less than half a mile from I-635 (LBJ Freeway) in Dallas.

However, if we’re talking the actual highway, I’m something like 10-15 miles from I-35 and I-30, and even farther from I-20.

About a mile to I-35E.

About 6 miles. It’s on the far north side of town, I’m at the opposite end.

What’s the definition of an interstate highway? I live an 8th of a mile from a highway that stretches from Maine to Delaware, but it’s not designated I-### but U.S. Route ###.

About 450 miles or so to I-95.

As the crow flies, it is about 5 miles. However, there is no direct route and it takes me 20-25 minutes to get to 83.

I personally would still count it if it A) Does connect to the I-numbered highway system (even through other intermediate highways that fall under B), and B) Is a limited-access road. In other words, if there are traffic lights and businesses right on the Route, I wouldn’t count it. And if it’s just a few miles of highway that skirts around a small city, only to resume being a regular road afterward, I wouldn’t count that either.

Technically, the closest interstate to me is the northernmost end of I-15, about 60 miles (100 km) south of here.

But north of the border, I-15 becomes Alberta Highway 4, which runs into town and becomes an ordinary city street that passes a couple of miles from where I live. Indeed, there are a few directional signs featuring the familiar Interstate shield in town and on Highway 4.

So, while the genuine I-15 is 60 miles south, I can follow a directional sign with the Interstate shield to turn onto a road just a couple of miles away; and if I stay on that road, I can end up in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, or Los Angeles.

With very few exceptions, every road in the contiguous states and Hawaii that’s a part of the Interstate Highway System is signed as an Interstate.

46 miles to I-35

About four miles.

About 3/4 of a mile from I-705 (offshoot of I-5) in Tacoma.

Using straight-line distances, I’m 1.5 miles from the 405, and 5.5 miles from the 5. I can’t think of any time in my life that I’ve lived more than 5 miles from an interstate.

Apple Maps says 1.7 mile to I-35.
