Fred explained that he wanted his wife’s “hobby” to be her own thing, but actually more important was the fact that he wanted to prevent her acting career from using the Howard Stern Show in any way at all. Howard hates it when a member of the staff uses their connection to the show to advance their own career outside of the show. Fred was very conscience of this and stayed away from his wife’s acting career.
The same thing happened with Howard’s daughter. She started get work in plays around the theater district in NYC. She made it very clear to the manager in charge of the theater that there was to be no reference to the fact that she was Howard’s daughter in any of the advertisement literature, but the manager didn’t listen and promoted the play by saying something to the effect that “Howard Stern’s daughter was in the play”. She quit.
Depends on whether I could trust that it would remain strictly onscreen (or on stage).
Questions I would have:
-
How often do actors who are romantically entangled on screen or on stage then go on to become romantically entangled in real life?
-
Does whether (or how much, or how intensely) they kiss, make out, etc. while in character affect the odds of this?
-
If one or both of the actors in question are already married to (or in a serious relationship with) someone else, how does this affect those odds?
Will do. Remember its $1600/ day with 50% due on contract signing.
My great-uncle was a semi-professional actor in Baltimore in the 1940s, and a vain, good-looking man. One day his wife called the theater trying to get him on the phone. The person who answered the phone (and this was the unlikeliest detail of this wholly unverifiable story) said “He can’t be disturbed, he’s rehearsing the love scene.” To which my great aunt relied “When he’s done, tell Romeo he just became a grandfather.”
My mom played Rosemary in a community theatre production of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. There is a scene where she and Finch have to kiss for a really long time (that’s the joke, that they kiss during this song and it goes on and on). I don’t think my stepdad ever came to see this show, thank goodness!
