How final is a house closing?

A little more info, for those that are interested in this saga…

I talked to 3 attorneys on the phone, and none of them knew whether I was legally responsible for the discrepancy since they had not encountered this situation before. I guess with free consults, you get what you pay for.

I talked to the title company, and they said they do have Errors and Omissions insurance, but that will only pay for the difference until the situation is resolved. Ultimately, they said the title company would need to pay the difference and they may pursue a judgement against me if this happens. Of course, thanks to Cherry2000, now I know to pursue the possibility of filing a claim with their underwriter if that happens. This message board rocks!
