How hard can it be to find a #^%#$!! watch band?

There used to be a kiosk at the mall that sold the perfect watch band. Bands with metal on them are straight out, they bug my skin, and this place sold a seudeish maybe fabric band that didn’t clip to the watch, it went under the watch. So the metal watch back was off my skin as well. And the closure was a nice plastic clip that snapped into place.

It’s no wonder this place went out of business. The strap that I had that just broke had to have been at least 6 years old. So now I’ve got this velcro watchband that is a week old and I can tell the velcro is already growing weaker. I’ll be lucky if I get 6 months off this strap.

I love the plain nylon straps from here or here. They don’t look very elegant but they’re functional. There’s no metal on skin and no big buckle sticking out. You can trim the excess with scissors and melt the end with a match so it doesn’t unravel.

I take it off occasionally and wash it with soap and a toothbrush. They last me a couple of years.

I think most department stores still carry them, and I’d guess any jewelry store could help, too.

I get my watch bands from Walmart, they seem to have a pretty good selection.

Swatch stores carry a variety of fabric, rubber and plastic bands. They’ll have Swatch logos on the closures but they’ll work.

I know a custom watch guy in Eden Prairie, he’ll be able to help you out.

Fisha, does he have a shop?

He did, but economy on fine watches, jewelry went down the tubes. Email me and I’ll give you his contact info.

They are easy to find online. Go to Amazon.com.
And if you can’t do the fitting yourself, go to any jewelry store. They sell bands and will also fit one you buy if you’re nice and act helpless and grateful.
