How I Live Now - Anyone else seen it?

I just finished watching this film, starring Saoirse Ronan. It was pretty good. I know a lot of people on here like post-apocalyptic* tales so was wondering if anyone else had watched it and what they thought of it. I know the book was well received but I’ve not yet read it. My main criticisms of the film stem from it feeling anachronistic. It begged to be set against the backdrop of the Cold War. Events as depicted in modern England just seemed too far beyond the pale of plausibility. I felt Saoirse Ronan did a decent enough job, initially channelling Lindsey Lohan, in her depiction of a troubled but seemingly spoiled and bratty teen thrown into an extraordinary set of events.

Did anyone else watch it? Thoughts?

*This film is more mid-apocalyptic I suppose but it posits a seismic disruption of daily life in what is shown to be, more or less, contemporary England.

It’s not playing here at the moment, but it is the kind of movie I enjoy - I’ll watch it when I get the opportunity, then come back and chat with you about it.
