I visited a club in Des Monies, IA where you paid a $10 cover to get in, it was BYOB, and the girls not only got completely nude - but if you gave them a tip they’d come over and let you touch. I got a private dance for $20 and the girl pretty much let you put your hands and mouth anywhere you pleased (above the belt anyway.)

That’s one of the great things about “How I Met Your Mother” - all the Canadian shout-outs which are freakin’ hysterical to Canadians watching (like Robin’s childhood dog, Sir Scratchawan, or Robin wanting to solve everything with guns. )

Uh, the OP - yeah, strip clubs in Canada vary by location, too. Saskatoon was a Temperance Colony so they didn’t sell any liquor at all in one half of the city until quite recently. I’m not sure if they have any strip clubs at all there, yet. Calgary has one, I believe. I’m not all that up on strip clubs; feel free to correct me, anyone.

I once read about the opposite happening in Texas. There was a stripper performing topless in an area where female strippers could not legally perform topless. When she was arrested, her defense was that she had been born male and had a sex change operation to female. But Texas law does not recognize sex changes so she was still legally a man and was therefore not a female stripper even though she had breasts and a vagina. And male strippers were allowed to perform topless.

Here’s a case from Texas that I was personally familiar with. There was a stripper one time in West Texas who was arrested for showing too much. She had a good lawyer, and he was able to keep the case pending for a very long time. During that time, there was some sort of injunction against arresting her again for the same crime until the present case had been resolved. That meant she could perform buck naked, which she did, the only girl who could, because the others would be arrested pronto. She was very popular.

under Saskatchewan liquor laws, there can’t be any nudity in a licenced establishment. pasties and thongs aren’t enough to get around that restriction. so there are no strip joints in Saskatchewan. one guy tried a non-alcohol strip joint several years ago, but it went under.

the restriction in the liquor laws was challenged in court under the Charter of Rights, but unsuccessfully.
