Plus, if I wasn’t doing very well in a class, I might welcome the chance to try again rather than try to eke out a passing grade.
And I agree, dude. I sometimes feel as angry as you seem to, but you’ve got to let it roll off and not respond. That’s what seemed to get ya. Yell at the screen if you have to, but then actually be civil in what you type.
That’s not what an incomplete (generally) is for. Usually an incomplete is assigned after conversations with the prof detailing what needs to be done to resolve missed work (a medical emergency that prevented you from showing up to the final, for example). Not every institution worked this way, but certainly all the ones I’ve been at required the conversation to even get the incomplete. An incomplete isn’t a “try again later grade”.
If that single grade was stopping me from graduating and going to grad school, I’d be having that conversation. It has nothing to do with pride. You’re not begging for something- just working out arrangements. He already got into grad school, so his grades must not have been an issue.
