How innacurate is your Illinois I-pass?

My sister and I share an I-Pass, but it fails to charge our account for at least half the toll islands it passes through. It missed a trip in December entirely. On round trips between Madison and Chi it adds charges for for the trip down, but not the trip back, or vice versa. Or just it catches one or two poll points each way, and there are ALWAYS at least 4 to actually pass in each direction.

Man, I knew there was a discount for using the IPass, but this is GREAT!

There is one tollbooth in Orlando(ish) getting on the turnpike that sometimes “misses” me. Tollbooth violaters are photographed (license plate) and that’s how they track you down.

I have gotten warning letters, and once a $25 ticket in the mail. I wrote them a very snarky letter when I sent them the check, pointed out there was a possible flaw in their reader, and that if they had a record of me getting off the turnpike a Point Y, then the fact it didn’t read me getting on the turnpike at Point X was not my fault.

They sent me back my check. I just don’t understand why they don’t charge me the 50 cents and have done with it. They have my account information, since they replenish the E-Pass when it gets low from my checking account.

Orange County (SoCal) uses an automated toll system that catches your plate if the transponder doesn’t “ping,” but after a while they get pissed if it never seems to read and send you another one!

You still get charged, one way or another.
