Tolls across Ohio River not showing up on I-PASS

I just checked my I-PASS account, and none of my tolls across the Ohio River bridge into/out of Louisville have shown up at least since the beginning of 2021. I’ve probably crossed it 10 times since then.

I know my transponder is working, as a recent toll in Illinois showed up.

Nor have I received any invoices in the mail… So is it just not seeing my plate at all?

This is weird… any ideas? Thanks!

Could they be on a different system like EZ Pass?

No, I checked. I-PASS is compatible. And, in any case, I’ve never received an invoice.

Is your I-Pass transponder expired? Last year, I drove from Chicago into Indiana and it worked in Illinois but not over the border. For example, the gate to the Skyway opened for me but none in Indiana. Coming back later that day, same thing. I later noticed a label on my transponder indicating it had expired some months earlier, whatever that means.

Good thought. I just checked online, and it says “active.”

Look at the actual transponder. I checked mine after posting and it ‘expired’ 3/2021. I suppose it’s possible other states don’t let you use expired 'ponders. I still haven’t replaced the thing but using cash and credit was a major PITA.

Ah, OK, I will take a look.

There’s also the question of why I haven’t gotten invoices for my trips across the river. Is the system unable to see all license plates?

I have an IN environmental plate that puts the black letters on light-ish blue. I have had a garage system unable to read my plate when it wasn’t clean.

And I can’t be certain that the expiration was related, it’s just all I can think of. I’d made the same trip earlier, before the 3/2021 exp, and everything worked. Not having the I-Pass really sucked.

I know they have had billing problems in the past. For the odd times when we cross into Clark County Indiana, our EZ-Pass account is debited. I don’t believe I-PASS is recognized by the tolling company, so they are supposed to bill based on the address tied to the license plate. However, the tolling company has a real problem with sending bills, and they were recently taken to court by dozens of people over second-notice bills with a late fee when a first bill was never sent. There’s always the Clark Memorial or the Sherman-Minton bridges.

The battery in the transponder doesn’t last forever. I had one die and the only way I found out was when I started getting penalties for toll violations (which require me to send my transponder number to the toll authority to be cancelled).

Earlier this year, ours turned up no problem when we checked on-line - as well as one fro FLA.
