How Is The Weather Looking Where You Plan To Watch The Eclipse?

The forecast for Ste Genevieve, Missouri (100% totality) is mostly sunny, 10% chance of precipitation, hot AF.

I know that it’s a fool’s game predicting the weather a week out, but as of right now, things are looking good knock on wood.

How about where you are planning on watching?

Woo hoo! 83F/28C and sunny. Sounds nice to me. I hope there’s not too much smoke in the air, though…

86F and sunny in the Carbondale, IL area.

Not sure if I’m going now though. My son has his first day of college that day (up north so no “eclipse delay”) and might choose to make that rather than travel for the eclipse. Going down and back alone doesn’t sound like much fun so I might wind up scrapping the mission.

I’m working so I’ll be watching from my Home Port 80%+ and so far the predictions are good.

Shaniko Oregon is partly sunny, but the forecasts have it clear in the morning.

In St. Louis, they’re saying there will be clouds. How many clouds, and whether the clouds will be in the wrong spot at 1:18 p.m., they can’t say. But there will be clouds.

Summer in the Midwest, I’m also worried about haze spoiling even a cloudless view.

I live in the steamy south and it’s far too early to tell. I’ll get back to you on Friday. Or maybe Sunday.

To answer the OP, my weather source has “Chance of Rain and Thunderstorms” posted for all days this week. But Monday doesn’t show up yet.

Horrible news! A week out and Mt. Vernon, IL is predicted to be mostly sunny (87 degrees and humid). It can only get worse!

Our group has sites reserved in KY and MO as well, so we’ll travel to catch the best weather.

Low 80s and clear/sunny so looking good!

Are you planning to walk him to class?

:dubious:

“… Going down and back alone doesn’t sound like much fun…”

No offence intended. At first read your post sounded like you were thinking about going up for your son’s first day of class, which seemed a little funny for a college student.

Hopkinsville, KY: Thunderstorms for the remainder of this week. Too early to tell for next Monday.

10-day forecast for Grand Island Neb. shows Monday as mostly sunny, 10% chance of rain. The group I’m with has buses and great weather and satellite access via NASA, so we can travel if necessary to find the best spot.

In my experience it’s way too early to tell, maybe 2-3 days before at the most.

Yes, this. Right now, it’s not looking great, and there’s more tropical waves aimed at us from the coast of Africa. But anything could happen, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Thunderstorms are forecast.

So far Sylva, NC is predicted to be mostly sunny. Boy, am I gonna be a hissy kitty if I haul my cookies up there only to find the whole thing obscured by clouds :frowning:

I’ve noticed in the last couple of days the local news going on about eye protection. I thought we weren’t supposed to be able to see much down here in Floriduh.

This is similar to the forecast I heard for the Kansas City area last night on the news. Partly cloudy, and it may be a crapshoot as to whether the sun is behind a cloud during the eclipse.

chance of a thunderstorm doesn’t sound particularly good.

Still early, but the situation has changed from mostly sunny to

[QUOTE=NWS]
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.

No word on WHEN then the storms would occur
