Not sure if I’m going now though. My son has his first day of college that day (up north so no “eclipse delay”) and might choose to make that rather than travel for the eclipse. Going down and back alone doesn’t sound like much fun so I might wind up scrapping the mission.
In St. Louis, they’re saying there will be clouds. How many clouds, and whether the clouds will be in the wrong spot at 1:18 p.m., they can’t say. But there will be clouds.
Summer in the Midwest, I’m also worried about haze spoiling even a cloudless view.
No offence intended. At first read your post sounded like you were thinking about going up for your son’s first day of class, which seemed a little funny for a college student.
10-day forecast for Grand Island Neb. shows Monday as mostly sunny, 10% chance of rain. The group I’m with has buses and great weather and satellite access via NASA, so we can travel if necessary to find the best spot.
Yes, this. Right now, it’s not looking great, and there’s more tropical waves aimed at us from the coast of Africa. But anything could happen, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
So far Sylva, NC is predicted to be mostly sunny. Boy, am I gonna be a hissy kitty if I haul my cookies up there only to find the whole thing obscured by clouds
I’ve noticed in the last couple of days the local news going on about eye protection. I thought we weren’t supposed to be able to see much down here in Floriduh.
This is similar to the forecast I heard for the Kansas City area last night on the news. Partly cloudy, and it may be a crapshoot as to whether the sun is behind a cloud during the eclipse.
