President Joe Biden prevented anyone from assassinating Obama.
If some asshole decides to assassinate Trump, some asshole will decide to assassinate Hillary. It will be a vicious circle.
Bernie will become President.

You aren’t entitled to an audience and if someone can legally drown out your voice that’s tough. Now no one is saying you can’t control private or leased property and boot the disrupted out. But the concept of free speech doesn’t encompass an audience.
Now, I doubt the people arguing this concept from the left actually support the concept which is why you see the crying from the left about Citizens United. But that’s just another example of “liberal hypocrisy.”
That’s straight up ludicrous.
Is this a story along the lines of thousands of NJ Muslims cheering on 9/11?
Nah, Biden would’ve been a fine president. (Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to say. I don’t think many anti-Obama folk were even more anti-Biden for this to enter their thinking.) I said similar to what you just did regarding Bush and Cheney. As much as Bush addled me, Cheney downright frightened me.
I find it hard to believe there was ever a single would-be Obama assassin who would not have liked Biden better as POTUS, for . . . certain reasons.
Trump’s life is not at risk, for if he is shot, the holes in him would erupt will limitless festering puss while he continues to spew the verbal equivalent from his mouth.
Prediction: there will not be a contested convention.
Trump has 646 delegates, according to RCP, out of 1237 to win. There are 11 winner-take-all contests coming up, according to my count, which award 597 delegates. That’s 1243, if he he wins them.
Now maybe Katich will win a state besides Ohio. He hasn’t yet, but the past doesn’t always predict the future.
Maybe Cruz will win a winner-take-all state like California or NJ. That seems unlikely, however. As of now, he appears to have won 0 states, last night.
Having said that, there are a number of proportional states, as well. Trump will certainly pick up delegates from those states.
Something fundamental will have to change to prevent Trump from winning. Unfortunately, his support seems to be growing, not shrinking.
Going forward, I expect to see more GOP politicians switching to Trump. And some celebrity journalists will be looking to get on his good side as well: Trump controls access to Trump, and the Trump interview is media gold.
Update: RCP is now saying Trump has 661 delegates.
Did you mean to put this in the Trump campaign thread? Or does this have something to do with whether he’ll get shot?
I can make it work. If he is the nominee, I do think that increases the chance that he’ll be shot. Anything that gets him closer to winning makes people more willing to violate their personal morals for what they believe to be the greater good.
Wanting to hear it doesn’t confer a special legal privilege, but control over a venue does. That’s why protestors are escorted from Trump events - and Cruz events, and and others’ - and why you might get escorted from a movie theater for making too much noise - even if you bought a ticket.
Trump supporters don’t have to walk away. It’s people who try to disrupt an event who - usually - have to walk away.
Miller’s wrong. It’s not who shouts loudest who wins; its who’s most persuasive.
Shutting down a candidate’s speech might feel like a moral victory - if that’s your goal. But unless there’s something persuasive about it, it accomplishes nothing. And in some cases - I would argue - it’s counter-productive.
You might want to re-examine your examples. Try shouting on an airplane, and see what happens.
Some people set out to shut down a Trump speech, and in fact the speech was cancelled.
Those people people thought they succeeded. They celebrated their victory. But maybe they’re wrong. Trump said he’d be back. So maybe they only succeeded in postponing it.
On the other hand, I don’t think he’s going back.
Bigger picture: did they persuade anybody of anything? I think they did, but it isn’t what they think.
Yep.
I’m shocked at the number of people here who seem to think that he who yells the loudest is any way to have any kind of logical discussion.
Lets say I had the option to mod peoples original posts here. Where I could delete or modify what they said the first time they said it.
Hey, if I am a faster typer, button clicker than you…well it sucks to be you.
Folks here would be shitting bricks if that was allowed.
Yeah, you’re right. That would be just terrible.
It’s a good thing you don’t actually have such power.
You do, however, have the power to completely misinterpret what others have said.
The same power that we all have.
I’ve considered myself a liberal all my life. But I have to confess things like this scare me.
I may have to resort to calling myself a left-behind liberal.
On a related note, this article argues the Chicago operation was not a success:
? A bunch of state university students issuing a list of demands to university administration, many of which are impractical and/or absurd and some of which are perfectly reasonable (e.g., using proper signage on non-gendered restrooms), scares you?
You scare easy, it appears.
Has a political assassination ever been crowdfunded?
I think there’s a new rule about using smileys (like so :)) to indicate when one jests.
Crowd-funding as we now know it would seem to be an easy enough mechanism to check for such efforts.
I’d say he’d have to become a legitimate chance for the presidency - which isn’t remotely likely, unless Hillary slips up very badly (…like, a ‘sex tape’ level slip) - before he’d be taken out; either by a ‘Lee Harvey Oswald’ or [insert favourite brand of shadowy conspiracy clique].
Proportionally speaking, given Drumpf has openly declared he wants to kill the families of enemy combatants and torture the leftovers, methinks he’d be in for a lot worse than a mere bullet, were he to be targeted… proportionally speaking.
Conservatives talk about reducing freedom of speech on college campuses all the time. Heck, you’re doing it now, LinusK. How dare they be able to make their demands?
It’s true they haven’t tried to disrupt Bernie rallies, but Sanders doesn’t have any chance to win. And he hasn’t championed for bigotry and violence. Sanders is liberal. But Trump is not conservative, and no one is trying to shut him up because they’re liberal.
And if you really care about freedom of speech, you need to remember there’s only one candidate who has talked about reducing it, and that’s Trump. And his followers seem to be okay with that. Trump wants to increase libel laws so you can’t say anything bad about him: that’s destroying freedom of the press. And he said that to cheers.
So stop trying this freedom of speech bludgeon. It has no relevance.
Anyone who wants Trump shot is a disgusting human being. I don’t care how offended you are, but any scum who attempts to kill Trump as a candidate or President, should be locked up for the rest of their life. Not to mention one has to be a plucking moron to get themselves thrown in prison for life. Protest Trump if you like, but if you get violent and murderous, then you should get spend life like John Hinckley and or that deluded woman who tried to shoot Gerald Ford in Sacramento in 1975(thankfully a poor shot and he gun did not even fire).
By the way this is not directed at OP or anyone in general.
Agree, and I have see estimates on Wikipedia that puts his delegates at 696, so pretty close to 700. By the way it is Kasich, not Katich. The Ohio Governor is delusional, Trump will bag it.
