That’s my take on it, too.
Me three. I mean, think about it, we have had a Black President for nearly eight years and there has not been one credible attempt on his life (albeit that there might have been plans for such an attempt that were foiled), thanks to improved security measures. If that didn’t happen, I can’t see it happening to Trump.
If I had to guess, Hilary would be a more probable target than the Donald, IMHO.
That would have to be one of the saddest ways to go.
Taking a bullet for Trump.
I sincerely hope no one, of any political persuasion, takes a shot at Trump, repugnant as he is.
America needs to use the power of the vote to ensure he does not become the nominee.
If he makes the nomination, then America needs to use the power of the vote to ensure he never becomes president; and then address the insanity that brought such a clown too, too close to becoming the nation’s leader.
If, god have mercy and forgiveness eternal, he actually gets elected, then America needs to live with that shame for four solid years, wearing the pointy hat and facing the corner.
I fully concur with this modest proposal.
(So much easier to swallow than what that Swift chap recommended.)
I’m not sure that “Freedom of Speech” as you’re defining it actually exists in your country (or mine for that matter). If that is Freedom of Speech, then someone such as Bill O’Reilly, for example, would be denying Freedom of Speech when he talks over his guests. Even Obama would be denying Freedom of Speech when he wags his finger and admonishes some loudmouth jerk with “Hey, You’re in my house . . .”. (Which, by the way, I thought was damn classy.)
I get that you’re saying the value of free speech should be respected beyond the narrow confines of the legal definition of Freedom of Speech. I agree that it’s a noble value to engage in open discussion, to allow others to voice their ideas and to open your ears and mind up to divergent opinions, like, say, on a message board devoted to fighting ignorance.
As to the protesters, although a part of me is smugly satisfied that they shut down “the other guy’s” event, I do think they’re making a big mistake if that was indeed their intent. This just escalates the animosity between the two camps. Better to take the high road. Assemble outside the convention center in a peaceful show of opposition. Hand out flyers that educate people about the true, vile nature of the Trump (The Dangers of Catching the Trump, and How to Protect Yourself). If you want to go into the convention, be a silent protester.
Yep. Much higher odds there.
Higher still for grievous beatings.
When Trump says crap like “I’d like to punch him in the face,” you can bet it won’t be long before one of his supporters says “I shall be thy hands.”
This is what I’ve been thinking for a few weeks now. Seeing how the anger and scuffles have been spiraling up at his rallies, I’m afraid that it’s just a matter of time before a protester is either shot, or beaten to death by a mob at a rally.
Can we please start referring to the Secret Service by their full name in this thread? The pairing of “Trump” and “SS” is beginning to get to me.
I wondered if anyone would catch that.
What is the correct acronym for the Secret Service?
The SS.
flees
Seconded.
As to the OP, I’m with those who say the chances of the Donald’s being shot are essentially nil, and also that I hope to hell it doesn’t happen.
It’s a secret.
What are the chances of some Trump follower faking it to garner support for his candidate?
Given the recent new stories I’d say “incompotent” might work.
So a Trump supporter is going to fake shooting The Donald? How does that work? He pulls out his finger and says “pew pew”?
No, but a fake death threat letter or fake bomb threat call, or even some yahoo claiming he saw a guy in the balcony with a gun are all certainly possible, aren’t they?
Maybe they’ll set fire to the Reichstag.
I think it’s USSS. I think. SS is easier.
The way this election is going? High.
The reborn Sturmabteilung are going to make it more difficult.
Trump’s campaign is beginning(?) to devolve into “The Manchurian Candidate” swamp. Anybody seen Laurence Harvey up on the catwalks?
Brownshirts, here we come.
Since someone already tried to link the Chicago protesters to ISIL, nothing would surprise me.
