How long did it take you to be a Certified Court Reporter?

I am currently attending night school at the best Court Reporting School in Los Angeles. I go three times a week; four hours a night and I work full time and practice on Thursday nights and weekends, on top of being a single parent.

We have just finished Theory. I have heard that it is different for every student on how long it would take to get to 225 words a minute. I am curious how long it took you. Did you quit? Did you quit and came back? What was your experience?

This is the hardest thing I have ever done, but the payoff will be fabulous.

Any stories of hope out there?

I am really interested in reading the replies to your query Narcissus&Goldmund. I find myself at one of those fork-in-the-road junctures in life right now at the age of 40. Kiddos are growing up (one gone and three more soon to be on their own) and I want to do something new with my life. Court Reporting is something that I have always been interested in.

How is the schooling going? Is it expensive? I would love to hear all the details.
