My partner and I are both fully vaxed and double boosted, and for good measure, we got our first monkeypox shots on Monday.
When we had to, we wore masks, but as soon as local mandates ended, so did our masking. We never went nutsy-cuckoo over hand washing or fetishized “sanitizing” of everything that doesn’t move, and people who wear gloves in public piss us off immensely as they’re just cross-contaminating everything. The only time either of us wear a mask now is doctor or chiropractor visits were they’re still required (I think at the federal level), We’ve gone to Las Vegas for vacation and flown to Long Beach for a trade show, all maskless.
All 4 of us are vaccinated and double boosted. We still stay at home most of the time; my husband is more paranoid than I am about even dining out. I did go back to grocery shopping in person a few months ago when I realized what a large surcharge we were paying for curbside pickup; items are anywhere from 10-30 percent higher). We don’t travel on airplanes - not just for COVID reasons, but for “my flight was cancelled” horror stories. And we still mask in public - a trend that is definitely declining everywhere we go.
We have done home tests several times now, both times were before visiting someone who was medically fragile. So far, obviously, none of us has tested positive. We’ll test again later this month before visiting the elderly in-laws in Florida.
I have yet to have it, but I do think it is very possible I had it and it ran its course without me realizing.
I had a bad cold the last week of March and a co-worker had identical symptoms and was positive. I had two lab tests(99% accurate, I guess?) and two at home tests come back negative.
I guess I didn’t have it, but it felt like a really bad cold that last a few days and I was triple vaxxed.
Tested positive last Saturday morning, finally tested clear this morning. I’ve had two vaccines and two boosters, and I’m still masking indoors (and often outdoors).
Sunday I tested negative and was cleared to go back to work. This time around I may not have even tested myself if I wasn’t going to see some elderly relatives. The symptoms were very minor and not at all like I felt the first time I got it. More like a very minor cold. I did take the antiviral they gave me but I was already feeling better when I started so it’s hard to say how it may have changed things.
My family (at home family, that is) held out until the end of last week.
Oldest son tested positive Thursday, then this morning little guy tested positive. Wife and I still feel fine, but it’s probably only a matter of time.
Thankfully it held off until after our extended family vacation at the beginning of the month.
Unfortunately, due to my employer’s policy on family members with COVID, I am missing out on the project I’ve been looking forward to working on for months. Also, it’s the first project my new employer put me in the lead of. So other people are doing it without me. Crap.
I really do wonder if I had an asymptomatic case in the recent past that has given me some immunity. A few weeks ago I was exposed (riding in a truck, and working in close proximity) to a co-worker who tested positive the following day. I PCR tested for a few days following that, and then did quick tests every day for the next week, all negative. I’d love to get through the cases in our household without catching it, because I want to go back to work. Unfortunately, every time someone else in my house tests positive I am not allowed to report back to work for 5 days.
2 vaccines from Pfizer, and I didn’t have any problems until the end of last month. I was at my brother’s house, and we were doing shots. He asked me if I’d ever had peanut butter whiskey. I said no, and did a shot out of the glass he was using. The next day, he tested positive for the second time. I developed symptoms about 2 days later.
I made it until two days ago. Went to a concert last Friday, first symptom (sore throat) showed on Monday, tested positive Tuesday. Mostly head congestion yesterday and today. I’ve had 3 doses of Moderna, last boosted in December.
I’m getting my bivalent booster the day after tomorrow, so I hope I hold out for another couple of days. If I come down with it before then, it will dick up my appointment. So I’m staying out of restaurants and grocery stores (the only public places I go nowadays) until then.
I thought I was coming down with a cold last week, but did a home test anyway and it came up negative. I was supposed to go in for a procedure tomorrow, and when they called this morning to verify I mentioned the cold and they asked me to do another home test.and it came up positive. Procedure was canceled, obviously, and I had a video visit with a doctor who said that based on my currently nominal symptoms I should isolate and keep taking cold medicine.
I got my bivalent booster yesterday. I have not yet tested positive for COVID. I coughed and sneezed a bit for 2 or 3 days when my wife had COVID for 4 weeks, but I tested negative.
