45 minutes by train. Before I moved, it was about a 90-minute ride from Machida to downtown Tokyo. And those stories about people having to be shoved into the trains by the station staff are true :eek: (if you have enough room to put your hand in your pocket, it’s not crowded enough). Sometimes. Actually, for most of my commute the train is empty enough for me to grab a seat.
About getting paid: Standard practice in Tokyo is for companies to pay for their employees’ train or bus tickets. I don’t know what they do for employees with cars.

I live a 3 mile drive down one road which I can make in 6-7 minutes.
Beats the 45 minutes to Manhattan that I did when I lived in Brooklyn, but really, that’s about the ONLY think that Raleigh has over New York for me.
(Well, that and my job…)
