Generally speaking, if someone takes anabolic steroids, how long are they detectable through testing? I’ve heard that most common steroids only stay in your system a few days, which makes it easier for baseball players to pass the test (take the 'roids in the off-season, get tested in May, and you’re “clean”). Anyone know the straight dope (so to speak)?
Or is this even an answerable question?
“How long do anabolic steroids stay in one’s system?”
In all likelihood, it depends on the specific steroid. I’ll check around.
Why do you want to know, Barry?
Haven’t you heard what’s going on in MLB BwanaBob?
This is why I’m asking. Because it won’t be too long before guys like Bonds and Giambi start saying, “Sure, I’ll take a steroid test. Bring it on.” That would only prove that they haven’t taken any steroids in the past few days.
Some info here. This is from a site that is pro steroid and not a medical journal, so I’m not sure how accurate the information is.
Just my weak attempt at humor.
Of course I know what’s going on with MLB. I hope the stuff stays in one’s system a long time to prevent the scenario you describe.
I hope some of the honest players give evidence.
-Slight hijack-
I’m sick of “organizations” that just circle the wagons at the first sign of misdeeds by one of their own. MLB isn’t the only party guilty of that. I would think that an elite organization would take pride in itself and distance itself from those who would drag it down.
Like police who protect a bad cop. Or political parties that try to cover-up for a schmuck in their party.
I’d hate my reputation being tarnished by association; I say get rid of the bums/cheats.
