How long until some show surpasses South Park in outrageousness?

Ok, I’m not sure if outrageousness is the best word or not but I couldn’t think of a better word for this instance.

I think a pretty safe bet to make would be that South Park has sailed far over the top of any TV show (cable or network) in the history of American TV.
Some of the things they’ve done:
-Killed of a major character in a gruesome death usually ending with him being eaten by rats in almost every episode
-The boys had a prostitute intentionally spread her herpes to their parents.
-They’ve had not 1, but 2 mentally and physically challenged characters as the center of frequent jokes.
-They’ve shown the South Park flag to be several white people hanging a black person (presumably just for fun) and cheering (later changed to people of all color.)
-They’ve shown Saddam Hussein and Satan as lovers.
-They’ve shown one of their main characters trick another character into eating his own parents.
-They’ve said the word Shit not once, not twice, but 162 times in a single episode.
-They’ve goofed on the gods of every major religion by portraying them as superheroes.
-The boys have hidden inside dead bodies.
-Many characters have vommited feces.
-They had a 4th grade teacher named Ms. Chokesondick.
-They’ve shown the adventures of a hamster inside a man’s colon.
-They’ve shown Jesus stab and shoot people a la Rambo.
-All of it has been goddamn funny.

Let me also mention that this has all been blatant and in-your-face. ‘Sneed’s-Feed-and-Seed’ was funny but I doubt the average American got the joke or even bothered to read the sign. With South Park you can’t miss it.

I realize the likelyness of some show eventually coming along and making this look like sesame street but it just seems so hard to imagine. I didn’t start this thread to kiss Trey Parker and Matt Stones asses but they’re so damn clever about doing all this that I can’t imagine anyone else pulling it off and still staying on the air for over 5 years.

So how long do you guys think it will be until some show comes along and tops all of this?

I know someone may come along and say that it had already been topped but you better have a damn good arguement prepared because I’ve never seen anything that even comes close.

The British programme Jaaammm (sp?) has gone way beyond these examples, but I can’t remember the precise details of any scenes at this late hour.

Being outrageous is easy.

Being funny is harder, and I find South Park misses far more often than it hits.

I find South Park to be both. If it wasn’t for the utter brilliance and uniqueness of the show I doubt it would’ve last more than a season or two (coughFamily Guycough).

Season 7 starts next month.

I think family guy was both funny and, in a certian sense, MORE outrageous that South Park. South Park puts it on the surface like its some kind of strange fetish, Family guy integrates it so well it make you think it was NORMAL. That, IMHO, makes it far more daring.

I’m pretty sure it was a gerbil. And at least they let Lemmywinks escape.

I like Family Guy. In fact, I think I’ve seen just about every episode, it’s a really funny show. It’s not original though. It’s jam packed with ‘Simpsons humor’ and while there’s nothing entirely wrong with that, it just doesn’t seem to work out completely with this show.

Family Guy is good but it’s often stale, unoriginal, and definately not playing in the same outrageouness ballpark as South Park.

It was, indeed, supposed to be a gerbil. Looked like a rat to me, though.

Couldn’t help wondering if its name was, in some way, a dig a Motorhead.

Naaah. Probably not.

I’m with Bryan Ekers on this one. To me, South Park episodes always strike me as if they’d been written by a couple of 12-year-olds trying to be clever, and missing the mark. I’ve endured long stretches during which there was nothing even remotely funny being said or done - truly witless stuff. As a result, even the outrageousness seems forced.
