Thing is, I’d argue that the show is not the same as it was 15 years ago. I actually agree with them that it is better.
Since 15 years ago, sure. Recent seasons have been pretty tiresome though compared to ones a few years ago.
ugh, South Park has really sucked for 2-3years. We finally took it out of the DVR. Matt and Trey need to try harder or give it up already.
I thought the last half of this season was actually pretty good.
They went after an easy target with all the Penn State jokes in last night’s episode, but it was pretty touching to see Kenny as Mysterion acting as his sister’s guardian angel.
This is good news!
It’s just the opposite for me, last season had some of my favorite episodes. Granted, not that there aren’t misses, but Creme Fraiche cracks me up every time I watch it.
Well, that was part of the joke, right? The character was making a fool out of himself wringing an easy target for all it was worth.
I really got the impression from several episodes this season that Parker and Stone were hinting heavily that they were over the show. Huh, go figure.
I’m happy about this, but they definitely some earlier seasons were better than the more recent ones. I don’t mind movie parodies, but they seem to be getting more frequent and more of the joke depends on knowing the movie, which I almost never do anymore. I’d like for more episodes to be the kind where the plot is straight-original rather than borrowed and then turned into a current-affairs send-up.
The most recent episode was a riot, I love the agnostic foster parents.
Me not like. No TV show that started while I was in grad school should be approaching 20 seasons. The only possible thing to take from that is I’m getting old.
The Simpsons already did it!
South Park has its ups and downs, but it can still make me laugh. Sometimes a lot. The Simpsons used to be the funniest show on TV and remained so for the better part of a decade. Since the early 2000s it has become an impotent, stogy, formulaic, unfunny shell of its former self…
You know, I might be the only one who’s never found Simpsons that funny. I go back and watch the old ones and it just makes me cringe. I realize it was ground-breaking for the time, but the jokes always seem either obvious or absurdly silly–but not in the good way–and that’s carried on in its current incarnation.
Was Mint Berry Crunch last season? cause i loved that one.
I didn’t stop watching South Park on purpose… in fact I TiVo’d it for quite a while… I just found myself never feeling up for watching it and eventually gave up. Should I give it another try?
The 15th season just had its finale, so there won’t be any new shows until about March. But Comedy Central should have plenty of reruns until then. Or you could go to southparkstudios.com and watch every episode for free.
But is it worth it?
I miss the days of the moral at the end of the episode. These days the story tends to peter out at the end.
I saw the documentary 6 Days to Air. Maybe the Matt & Trey should spend a little more the six days putting an episode together. Maybe the plots would feel a little more solidly structured.
