How many baseball caps do you own?

I have about 5. Two of them are on display in my house, both Cleveland Indians hats. One is just cool-looking (from the 2016 Home Run Derby, in the style of 80s Padres uniforms) and the other is “my baseball hat that I wear.”

I’m a lady with a full head of curly hair and if I wear a hat I’ve got to commit to it because it’s going to mess up my hair and leave evidence. So I’ll wear it if my hair is already a wreck, I’ll wear it to actual ballgames, I’ll wear it if I need sun or rain protection for my eyes. And yes I often wear it backwards because it actually looks better that way and the point is to cover my mess so I don’t need a brim all the time. I can’t really wear it in situations that require me to take it off and reveal the mess.

My other hats include a St. Louis Blues hat I got 20+ years ago that was My Hat for a very long time. I wore it every day to my summer catering job basically as a sweat catcher. Now I will wear it if I am about to embark on a sweaty job. I don’t want to sweat up my expensive Indians hats.

Also I’ve got 2 John Deere hats, a pink and a green one, from purchasing a John Deere tractor. Neither of them fit me because they are “low profile” and not only do I have the big hair I have a bit head so they are slightly more covering than a yarmulke on me. I also have a hat from a community band that I was in.

One. I always possess a Toronto Blue Jays cap. When it no longer looks good I will throw it out and buy another.

Around a dozen. I wear them for sun/glare protection. Oddly, none have sports logos. One was a gift my gf brought me back from London. It says "MIND THE GAP. I’m surprised by how many people do not have a clue what that means!

I’m not a hat guy. I can only think of three ballcaps: a freebie giveaway from a bar, a freebie giveaway from a White Sox game, and another freebie giveaway from a bar. That last one is actually a visor that I sometimes wear for yardwork late in the season when the sun gets low and it’s hard to see where I’m mowing.

Does anyone here ever tuck their ears inside their caps? I don’t see it too often around here but noticed it more during my last trip to Las Vegas. Maybe a West coast fashion thing?

I had a 2-3 year phase in the early 2000s when I wore baseball caps. I’ve done a lot of downsizing and throwing old stuff out the last couple years, so I’m almost certain any baseball cap I used to own is long gone. So I voted zero.

After that I mostly wore driving caps or newsboy caps for about a decade. Now I only wear real felt hats. Far more durable and functional, in my opinion, in addition to looking better.

The only downside is that I can’t stuff it into my pocket indoors. But now I realize that nobody else in the world cares whether you wear a hat indoors, and my drill sergeant isn’t around anymore to yell at me. So I just wear it all the time, unless I’m settled in at my own house, when my hat hangs on a hook.

There are other types of caps than baseball caps. Like the flat cap/driving cap I mentioned above. Running caps (and golf caps, I guess) are just a special kind of baseball cap, though. Shape is the main differentiator, I think, not material or usage.
