How many cats do you have?

Perhaps you lived in houses with full-time home makers? Smaller houses, with generally a lot less stuff?

Hmm, not really. My mom didn’t go back to work full time until I went into kindergarten but I’m the youngest of four kids; our house wasn’t exactly small. And we had pets (dogs, cats, bunnies at one point, a couple canaries, and a guinea pig for a bit) long after my mom went back to work. My dad was a truck driver, gone for weeks at a time sometimes, so he wasn’t much help.

Sometimes I wonder how my mom did anything at all.

My husband and I have four cats between us. One cat is definitely his cat, though she likes me too. One is definitely mine, though she likes him too. The other two love both of us more or less equally, though theoretically one is mine and one is his.

Same here. Four boys, all but one rescues, for two people. I’d say 3 of 4 are “hers”.
