How many Dopers post from work?

Posting at work right now…

I do. My work day goes like this:

Frantic, busy, nothing, bored, snooze, frantic, snooze, busy, bored, frantic, snooze, snooze, frantic, busy, bored.

So I stay logged in and deedle around when I feel like it.

I frequently post from work, sans guilt. The company doesn’t care. In fact, I’m posting from work right now and my project manager is in here talking to my officemate!

Exclusively.

I post mostly from work. My boss can see it, but as long as I get my work done, he has nothing to say. It’s pretty lenient here - on slow days everyone’s playing video games or music or reading… it’s nice.
The downside is that I have to be careful what I post (and that means nothing work-related, as much as I’d like to) because they’re aware and could potentially be keeping tabs.

I do. My job involves answering the phone so I must remain at my desk to do so. Hell , If I go to the head invaribly someone will chase me down to tell me I have a call. Easier than taking a message I guess. For that reason I don’t feel quilty about using thier band width in the least. AND I make them lots of dough.

Yep, for another 18 minutes. I avoid the dope evenings and weekends so I have something fun to do all day.

Yep. My job consists mainly of sitting and waiting for the phone to ring. It’s gotten to the point where my co-workers and I can’t find anything to do on the internet, because we’ve done everything!

I used to, and my company’s IT knew and didn’t care. I was on salary, and spent many an hour on the Dope. I also spent many hours beyond an average 8/per day without going anywhere near a PC.
My bosses had two cares; was my job done (yes) and did my internet time cause any problems (no.) As long as those two were answered properly, they didn’t care what I did.
I wouldn’t Dope at my new company because I wouldn’t have time.

Peace - DESK

I do. I have a very busy but very underpaid job. shrug I figure it’s part of my compensation. I deserve much more money, they can’t pay it, so oh well.

I post from work, though it makes up a relatively slim amount of my posts.

I have never, ever posted from work. Nor have I browsed the Dope at work.

I do, on breaks and lunch. And occasionally when I’m not supposed to (I’ve gotten warned by my supervisor about this so I do it very rarely now). It’s hard, though, when you’re doing your 12th uninteresting application of the day and nobody seems to be around your cube, and you really, really want to see responses to that thread, and you think…maybe just for a minute…

I read the first bandwidth as bathroom, which made it much more amusing  BTW, not a US taxpayer, but you’re welcome. If we ever happen to meet at a dopefest of any kind, I expect a beer in recompense for your drain on the system

I post rarely from work, but read quite a bit. That will probably change soon, as they’re soon to impliment a new “call quality monitoring system” that will not only tape every call for review if needed, but capture every keystroke while on the phone, as well as screenshotting the entire call. That frankly scares me.

Now that I work a normal person shift, I kind of miss the inactivity of the overnights. I now do 24 calls in an 8 hour day, as opposed to an average of 10 in a 12 hour night, but do have a life now.

I do it much too often. There was a period where I cut my work posting down to zero, but I backslid. I just have too much mental downtime.

I work from home, and during breaks between projects I work on, I take a bit of time-out and check up on messageboards like the SDMB. I don’t post as much as I would when not working, because I’m concentrating more of getting reports worded than wording posts, but I do check the forums out.

When I wasn’t my own boss, I would never post at messageboards from work (except in one instance, when I asked a question about republishing a Cecil article in ATMB. That was work-related, and with my boss’ permission).

my job requires me to sit in a truck for 12 hrs a day. thanks to my pha/phone device I can post anytime, from anyplace, as long as I have a cellular signal.

right now, it’s on the company dime.

I work in a call center. I read the boards during slow times in between calls (such as now at 6:23 AM on a Sunday morning), and the company doesn’t mind us doing this just as long as we don’t abuse the privilege (i.e. consume major bandwidth, view NSFW sites, etc.) and of course, don’t surf when we should be taking calls. At my last job there was all kinds of slack time and on some days I must have spent more time viewing the boards over doing any actual work.

Never have; never will in my current job. No time. And, if it’s not blocked, it would violate our internet use policy (I work for a government agency) which is pretty strictly enforced. (They do random samples of where you’ve been. I’ve had to write up my employees; I’d be embarrassed if my boss had to write me up.)

I used to, during slack time, which was rare, anyway, but they’ve since institued an “Absolutely no personal use of the internet” policy, which took the Dope away from me.

I miss it. There is no incentive to get caught up on my work, anymore. So the policy is really not to their advantage.
