65,000 people makes for a really long list. Being left off of one,or fifty of those lists, still means nothing.
This type of social-engineering thread always yields interesting results. The “Doper picture” threads always bring out lurkers, and the “What does your username mean” ones usually do as well.
Any list that neglects Stranger on A Train, Ultrafilter, Silenus, August West, Scumpup or me sucks.

Honestly when I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be a memory exercise like “how fast can you alphabetize the fifty state capitals” I find it re-goddamn-diculous that it turned into “I dont want to do it because if I forget someone they wont invite me to their birthday party!” I mean its not like you forgot your grandma its just trying to spout off people’s usernames on an interweb message board. Not to mention I’m more likely to remember someone that I severely dislike than someone that amuses me.
And yeah I agree about the pictures and the user name threads. Although I don’t really see how they are that different. Most threads here are exercises in vanity. Even the self deprecating ones. People love forums!
It’s easy to stay anonymous on a board of this size. It feels a bit strange sometimes because I am from a very small town and am not used to it, but at the same time it’s very freeing to be able to say whatever I want and realize that no one will connect it with me.
I don’t recall enough names to be good at the game, just wanted to reassure anyone who’s feeling left out that I notice you, even if I can’t remember your name after I’ve closed your posts. I always look to see who’s posting and their location.
I’m going to do this without peeking.

At this point, I don’t know if I could resist the urge to cheat. But I could post a LOT of names.
None of whom, it would appear, would remember me. Dang it.
