36…and I just did some house cleaning last week.
24 for the longest time, all of which get used often, but I have 38 at the moment. Saved a crapload of sound files to the desktop for a project I was working on a few days ago, and haven’t gotten around to junking them yet. End of the semester, so I’ll be reorganizing my project folders anyway. Good time for a cleanup.
Two - the Home directory and the Trash in Linux. I could probably get rid of them, but I don’t care to. I dont launch anything from the desktop anyways. I use the toolbar for quicklaunching the programs I use regularly, and the menu for everything else. Looks nice and neat - until you actually look at where I put things. Most of my files are either in my home directory in Linux or My Documents in windows! My SO HATES that I don’t use folders very much!
I use double booting.
Win 98SE has 24 icons while XP Pro has 40.Most of them are program shortcuts anyways.Regular stuff I use are on the quicklaunch.Got 15 of them there.
Zero.
I hate a cluttered desktop and I use the Dock for launching apps and browsing files.
- That’s how many I can tolerate.
Six. I hate a cluttered desktop. Whenever I use someone else’s computer with tons of icons, it makes me want to go through and put everything in nice neat little folders!
On my laptop, I’ve only got seven icons. I’ve got the standard My Computer, My Network Places, Recycle Bin, and My Documents shortcut. I’ve also got a shortcut to my website folder and a shortcut to the DVD player application. The final one is just a small telnet program. My QuickLaunch bar just has Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Mozilla Firebird. The All Programs list in the Start menu only has nine folder listings. Like some of y’all have said, I’ve got my program organized.
10 on the P1, 33 on the P3, 30 (was about 60 prior to upgrading) on the Athlon.
30 for me. 13 more on the quick-launch.
I use most of them fairly regularly. I’m all for a tidy desktop, but I also like to be able to get to stuff with a minimum amount of clicks. I start to freak out if I have more than 2 - 3 rows of icons though.
I work in tech support, and one thing that really annoys the heck out of me is when a user calls for help with some easy to fix thing but it takes 45 minutes because they’ve moved/renamed/deleted icons that they should have LEFT ALONE. Arrrrgggghh.
I have 37 - I don’t want the icons cluttering up my extremely attractive desktop background, so I keep 'em to a minimum.
- With Sledgehammer pointing a gun at me in the background. I pretend he’s saying “Any more icons and I’ll shoot your facist ass. Trust me. I know what I’m doing.”
68 icons. my screen is set on 800x600, so not many more will fit ah well. i dont like icons that much, they cover up nice backgrounds, but having 130 is something to be proud of!
0 - but I have 43 icons on my quick launch bar.
By far the most pointless information I’ve ever posted.
But, you did it, clayton_e! This could be the start of something REALLY big for you… A Red-Letter Day!
Get windows XP. No icons? No problem.
I’ve got XP, but I DO like seeing some icons when I boot up, hence I keep them there. Call it creature comfort, perhaps?!
I have XP as well, and I have icons too. I was just proposing a solution.
2, and nothing in the quick launch bar. I get everything from the start menu. I have a shiny wallpaper pic, why would I want to cover it in icons?
