I’ve seen the number of Allied troop losses in various major news publications, but I haven’t seen any running figures on the number of Iraqi civilian deaths. I’m sure that this figure is far more difficult to track, so let’s take that as a given. Despite that, does anybody know if anyone out there is monitoring the civilian losses?

Seeing as there was an uninterrupted period of sanctions, airspace occupation and bombing between 1991 and the recent land invasion of Iraq, I think it’s fair to consider the entire period one long war. That being the case, varied respectable sources are estimating the additional Iraqi civilian dead from the sanctions period at well over a quarter million on the conservative side.
