Are there any good estimates for the number of Iraqi military casualties during operation Iraqi freedom?
Are there even any bad estimates?

Don’t know about military, but some (probably biased) estimates of civilian deaths are available at Iraq Body Count.
It should be noted that Iraq Body Count is rather unreliable- as it relies on media reports for its tally. This allows gross errors.
As for military, the only cite I can find is from the dubious www.iraqometer.com site, which asserts 10,200 dead Iraqi soldiers. A cursory search of media reports (again, not the most reliable method) would put the number of dead Iraqi soldiers at a minumum of 5,000.
5,000? Jeez, that seems pretty low for the conquest of the Cradle of Civilization…I mean, there have been battles in Pennsylvania that cost more lives than that…
Hmph. Whippersnapper civilizations these days…no one wants to hold wagnerian, apocalyptic, kriegs for the soul of humanity anymore.
