How many miles does your car have?

I have a 95 Nissan Altima and it has 81,783 miles on it.

Had a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville. I bought the car used in 1991 with 60,000 miles on it. I was the second owner. I put another 155,000 in 8 years, gave it to my sister, who put another 10,000 on it before she got in an accident and totaled it. 225,000 miles, all on the original engine with no major work.

When I gave that car away, I got another Bonneville, this time a 1996. I bought it used in 1999, with 20,000 miles on it. In the three and half years since, I’ve put another 53,000 on it, for a total of 73,000.

Total work on this car is pretty minimal. I put on a new set of tires shortly after I bought it (I didn’t like the ones it had), replaced the gas filter and crank speed sensor at about 60,000, did the brakes and had the serpentine belt replaced at about 65,000 (the manual said it should be done at 50k, but it was still in pretty good shape). If this keeps up, I’ll easily get a total of 325,000 out of the two.

My 1997 Mazda B2300 pickup rolled over 110,000 miles this week. I got it new.

Still going strong. Only problem is a broken heater blend door that has the climate control stuck on full hot, regardless of the temperature knob setting. This is a known design defect in Ford Ranger & Explorer, Mercury Mountaineer, and Mazda B-Series vehicles of this vintage. I’ve been living with the problem for some ten months now, which probably wouldn’t have been bearable if I lived anywhere but southern California.

I plan on running this thing into the ground. Hopefully that’s many years and many miles off…

'93 Saturn 2 Door… 99820 - I was hoping it would make 100K without any major problems - guess I’ll go for 105K!

The 86 Jeep Cherokee we bought new has 242,000 miles on it, but only about 60,000 of those miles are on the current engine. We traded in our (bought used) Toyota Celica with 210,000 miles on it, but again, it was on its second engine. We got the Nissan dealership where we bought our Sentra to give us $500 on the trade-in.

Top mileage vehicles:
#5 Cornflake’s Courier: 238,00 or 338,000
#5a InternetLegend’s Cherokee: 242,000 (since we aren’t sure on the Courier)
#4 ShirlyUjest’s Ram: 250,000
#3 RTFirefly’s Accord: 253,000
#2 Nightsong’s Mustang: 300,000+
#1 JeffOlsen’s Dad’s Rabbit: 750,000+

Irv doesn’t count, unless Rick is a family member of his.

You can rebuild anything you want.

1991 Honda Accord LX - no a/c, 192,000 miles (for sale)
2000 Honda Civic Hatchback - many mods, 46,000 miles
1995 Plymouth Grand Voyager - Ugly, 120,000 miles(for sale)
2002 Honda Accord EX V6 - Beautfiul, 7000 miles
2000 Mercury Sable, Ford product (ugh), 65,000 miles.

1984 Volvo 240: 251k

1994 Honda VFR 750 motorcycle: 48k

Both still running. The VFR has never had any problems. The Volvo’s bodywork/interior are still fine, but the list of minor mechanical quirks is rather lengthy. Still solid transportation, though.

1995 Ford F-150 Pickup Truck - 130,000
2000 Lexus ES-300 - 21,000

1987 Chevy Celebrity 99,000

1995 Dodge Caravan with 114000 miles.

That thing’s been driven two round trips between New York City and the Rocky Mountains, as well as numerous smaller (but still substantial) trips.

I think I should be able to slip into second place: My current vehicle is an '89 Honda Civic with 358,000 miles. I bought it nine years ago with 112,000 on it. All on the original engine.

Unfortunately, the car’s on its last legs. In addition to a host of minor problems, just last month it simultaneously came down with a bad CV joint and a bad cylinder, which won’t fire at idle. Estimated repair cost $2500+. So, I’m afraid, it’s time to let the Civic slip into the Great Mall Parking Lot in the sky.

RIP Li’l Black Egg.

I’ve got a 96 Ford Escort Wagon with 93,000 on it. I’ve also got a 2000 Kawasaki Concours, motorcycle, with 63,000 on it. I plan on catching up to my car in a year or so on the motorcycle.

1991 Ford Escort with 184,275 miles on it.

Just sold an 89 Honda Civic with ~ 172000 miles, bought a 96 Saturn SW2 with ~75000 miles. The Saturn is a good car which I’m sure will give me years of service, but I’m still kicking myself over selling the Honda. It has tons of life in it and all I did was get rid of a bunch of money, all 'cause I wanted a “new” car.

And my wife and kids troll around in a 99 Mercury Villager with ~ 43000 miles.

I’ve got an '88 Ford Bronco with 180,000 or so miles on it (40,000 since I bought it in March).

At my last job we had a 3/4 ton diesel Ford pickup with around 350,000.

I have a 1996 Dodge Intrepid with 198,500 miles on it. I bought it in 1998 with 102,000.

I have done basically no repairs. I replaced the starter about two years ago, other than that no problems at all and it still runs great.

94 Jeep Cherokee Sport, a mere 85,000 miles. I plan on driving it til it’s not cost effective to do so anymore.

I’ve got a couple of pups compared to this crowd!

  • '94 Jeep Wrangler 99,783 miles
  • '02 Harley Davidson V-Rod 2,658 miles

1993 Pontiac Grand Prix: 192,000
1991 Subaru Justy: 165,000
Had 1992 Pontiac Bonneville: 211,000 (totalled before getting MY money’s worth out of it!)
