In Greece you’ll have to wait about 6 months to receive your VW or Audi and between 6 months and a year for a Mercedes. This is strange, because other brands (Opel, Renault, Ford etc) get delivered in less than 3 months.
Are these wait times typical in other countries too?
Is demand so high for those marques that customers have to wait for so long?
We drove my wife’s Civic off the lot the day we bought it.
I ordered a 2004 Toyota Prius in October 2003 and took delivery in February 2004.
I’ve ordered Ford vans and received them in 4 weeks or less.
Guess it depends on model popularity vs. plant capacity.
Those Japanese folks are really great! This must be the epitome of Just In Time production. Not only they made the car the same day you ordered it, but they also teleported it to California
Yes, Toyota has similar delivery times in Greece too.
Do you mean order because there aren’t any cars on the lots there? Or because you absolutely have just got to have an option that’s not on the lot?
I don’t know anyone who’s ever ordered a car in ages, what with the commonization of options packages. But our lots are replete with cars.
I think what he meant was he was able to drive a car off the lot because it met his needs and didn’t realize you meant special order.
Not sure what it’s like in Greece, but most US lots have a number of different models with the most common features on them and a few color options. WHen you buy a car they can add certain options for you at the dealership. If you specify a color or engine type they don’t have though you may need to wait a while.
This also happens with new model cars in high demand.
