Once more:[ul]
[li]you were Warned for refusing to follow a Mod’s instructions, not for posting personal insults. (It even says so in the Warning.)[/li][li]Had the Warning been for insults, per se, an accusation of being a child plus an accusation of being insincere, directed at a specific poster, is rather more of an actual insult than an accusation of being a hobbyist directed at a political party off board.[/li][/ul]
Maybe you could talk them into giving you back an extra dollar, since the ten they took from you was so clearly under false pretenses.
An alternative would be to put the equivalent you’re not paying towards a good cause. Instead of paying the organisation, you pay the sole still member and then donate the rest to a charity of your choice. The moral issue of not paying the organisation so you can donate to charity would be counterbalanced by the issue that right now you’re paying them and not donating that $10.
Okay, trying to reason with a deeply dishonest dumbass gets old pretty quick, so I’ll give this one more whirl and then let you have the last word(s) if you like.
I guess where you come from, “and” means “not for”.
Your exact words, in the PM’d warning:
And of course the “instructions” were not to insult other posters, so the logic here is circular anyway.
Pfffft. There was no such accusation. In video game parlance, a “sandbox” is a virtual environment that emulates the real world in many ways, but doesn’t actually affect the real world (hence the word “irrelevant”, which doesn’t fit with an accusation of immaturity). That is precisely how I was using the word there. Sounds pretty close to “hobbyist”!
:smack: This one is the most laughable–bizarre, really. Not only was there no such accusation, the mere suggestion requires incredibly tortured logic. At least the claim that “sandbox”=“immature”, while still way off base, is one I can see a dull-witted person like yourself stumbling into. This “insincere” business, I can only assume you made up out of whole cloth, ex post facto, tacked on in a desperate and ill-fated attempt to cast about for something, anything, that might give the warning more heft.
ETA: Still waiting for someone to show some integrity by agreeing that the warning was bullshit. That would not mean an endorsement of me or my views! You can add as many harsh insults for me personally as you like to make that clear. Note that I was willing to do the same for whatsisname (something with “brain” in it) when he got banned recently. We had never seen eye to eye at all, to say the least, but I still stuck up for my view that the ban seemed unfair.
The video game meaning derives from the insult that one is a child. You can dance around that to your heart’s content, but that meaning does not go away because you want to pretend that you said something different than what you said. In all this discussion and the discussion in ATMB, this is the first time you have tried out that ploy. Not credible.
(Next we will see you claim that you really, really meant Iraq and Afghanistan.)
This appears to be you describing your posts and actions.
You appear not to even understand your own reference.
Your claim is that the moderators are out to get you because of your political opinions, or something. As I’ve said before, I don’t post much in GD and I don’t even know what your political positions are supposed to be. I was posting as a poster. Your sheer, pounding, unrelenting, interminable stupidity is more than enough reason to want you to stop.
You can see the one that gets the most heat right here in this thread. And I haven’t posted in GD either, for, what, at least a couple years now? Except in one thread I started years ago, about how society will change to adapt to AI and the “rise of the robots”.
To “good day, sir”? I have actually discussed this meme at length on another forum. Go ahead, smart guy, let’s hear what you think it means and where it comes from (in modern, ironic terms, that is–obviously we all know it originated as an old-fashioned thing to say in the horse 'n buggy days).
Who would that be? Perhaps you, you poor boy? It would appear that not only do the mods have it in for you, so do most of the posters. It would appear to be a terribly unfair world that doesn’t recognize your greatness and the impeccable merit of all your arguments. That’s the only possible explanation. Really, there’s just no other way to explain it.
Wolfpup, by “the one” I meant “the political position”. Not “the poster”. I thought that would be clear as can be, but apparently not. HTH.
BTW, I really did want to stop responding to tomndebb, but if he’s going to state or strongly imply falsities about me, I can’t let that go uncorrected. He claimed: “In all this discussion and the discussion in ATMB, this is the first time you have tried out that ploy.” This *strongly *implies that I was involved in an ATMB discussion about the post in question. I was not, and I had no idea one existed until this mention. (Upon doing a search, I learned someone started a thread to say “WTF” about that warning. Bless their heart.)
How many times do I have to show proof of what a dirty, lying scoundrel **tomndebb **is before he slinks away and stops trying to serve up any more steaming piles of feces?
Yes, it is. And both my political heroes Sam Harris and Bill Maher get tons of heat for their similar views. But we are right and the naysayers are wrong.
Another long term solution is to work to eradicate Islam. It’s a religious virus of the mind, where many types of assaults on the viral strain are off limits (killing the hosts to clear the disease is not allowed or ethical). But other paths are slightly more tolerable unless people are too far left. You can limit the viral load from entering a host society by restricting immigration numbers from muslim majority countries. You can have a much more widespread and rigorous push back against the beliefs and ideas the religious virus known as Islam uses to infect new hosts. We need to PREP the population to make the beliefs/ideas less likely to take hold.
And for those that are infected, we do the same thing we did to christianity, offer a relentless assault against the ideas put forward in the public square to try to force others to bend the knee to christian doctrines. The SAME needs to happen for Islamic ideas, except turned up to 10.
Teach world religions in public schools, the life of Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad, Zoroaster, Moses, Hindu pantheon, Confucianism, let the flood gates of religious and philosophical ideas open. And let them all contrast and compare the beliefs. Let them follow the unvarnished life of Muhammad and see if they want to sign off on bending THEIR knee to his example.
It is my firm belief that most muslims in the US are BETTER than their religion, they just don’t know it. So let us make that explicit.
Excellent! Now you’re equating yourself with Bill Maher! The hilarity continues!
I’m a big fan of Bill Maher. So this little conversation appeals to me as an indicator of how well those sorts of comparisons work. Not well at all, as it turns out. Bill Maher has earned his stature as a major celebrity because of his insightful and acerbic political commentary. You, on the other hand, have earned your stature on this board as an annoying self-aggrandizing doofus.
[Moderating]
This is a general reminder to all posters in this thread that discussion of official moderator actions is not allowed in the Pit. Anyone wishing to complain about a warning someone received, or who wishes to justify the same, should take it to ATMB.
[/Moderating]
Yes, and I said he was my hero. That is not equating myself with him. (Try to read more carefully, seriously.) I have no such illusions, in particular that I am anywhere near as witty as he is. But we do have quite similar views about Islam and Muslims.
Somewhat similarly, I would say Harris could presumably get into the Quintuple or Sextuple Nine Society, if such a thing existed. Whereas I wouldn’t even claim to be *quadruple *nine. I’m definitely in the lowest tier of that group, as I only just qualified with 30 SAT points to spare, but that’s okay.
