How many people with exactly my birthday?

According to my birth certificate, I was born at 11:20pm EST on August 24, 1963. Is there a way to figure out how many other people were born at exactly that time?

I’d imagine you could find out births per that month somehow with census data, then estimate by dividing by 31 to get per day, then divide by 1440 to get per minute. Maybe the U.S. Census Bureau or something would have this information?

They say great minds think alike. I don’t know what they say about mediocre minds though.

I hope you get an answer.

Do you mean in the United States, or in the World?

There were 4,098,020 live births in the U.S. in 1963. Ignoring seasonal differences (for 1954-63, there was an average seasonal difference of about 13 percent in the number of births from the lowest to the highest month, from about 328,000 in April and May to 377,000 in September), that works out to 11,227.45 births per day.

Divide a day into 1,440 minutes (ignoring diurnal differences in birth), and 7.8 people were born in the U.S. at the same minute you were.

I just thought of another complicating factor. Because the U.S. stretches across 6 time zones, there are more than 24 hours per day across the U.S. From one midnight in Maine to the next midnight in Hawaii, there are 29 hours, or 1,740 minutes.

Don’t worry about that. Your previous post was based on “day” meaning “24 hour period”. The fact that people might be calling it Monday 28 hours apart is irrelevant.
