How many threads are you currently subscribed to on the SDMB?

Zero.

7751 (7752 with this reply I guess)

Me too, I’ll give Anaamika’s method a try.

It was 8, then I unsubscribed from them so it’s now 0, and then I just enabled this method so when I hit SUBMIT REPLY it will be 1. That’s likely more information than you either needed or wanted! So be it.

None; I generally visit often enough so that any threads I posted in will still be on the first page; which is to say, the past few days for most subforums (IMHO currently goes back to 7:55 am on 11/8), and will be highlighted as it does when you visit a link; this includes threads I have read but not posted in, but generally I want to read those again as well if there are new posts. For older threads that are posted in after more than a few days, I’ll notice them again if they come up, again, they will be visible on the first page for 2-3 days and unless months have passed my browser will still remember that I visited the link so it is highlighted (even saw a thread the other day that was still “remembered” after half a year; obviously, I never clear the cache or visit enough pages to cause automatic purging for at least that time; of course, they are dead zombie threads by then).

None.

Been here forever, and have never subscribed to a thread. I didn’t even know about it until I read this thread.

Zilch.

More than 400. I stopped subscribing to threads I post in since Tapatalk can give me a list of threads I’ve participated in, letting me use subscribe for other things. So I subscribe to threads I start.

Zip.

All of mine.
I kid, I kid!

None. For much the same reasons others have said.

I vanity search, and look at the “visited” coloured links to keep track. I do end up missing revisiting some that I probably ought to have kept up with, but, oh well. As fun as the SDMB is, it isn’t that crucial to follow every twist and turn.

Now, it’s 17.

Anaamika’s method seems to work well.

When I first registered on The Dope, I left the default setting where any thread you post in was automatically subscribed. Back then my wife and I both used the same computer and email address.

She would open the email and see a cascade of responses from the SDMB and exclaim; “what did you say to these people!”

So I turned off subscribing and email notification. I read here often enough that I don’t need to see every little comment to a thread I have posted at. Most threads drop off the main page in a few days anyway. And if someone really wants to address something I have personally posted, there is always sending a PM.

Zero. I’ve never subscribed to a thread.

I also use Anaamika’s method. I have it set to automatically subscribe me to threads that I post in, but I’ve only made 1,722 posts as of today. I also manually subscribe to any threads that I’m reading where I want to keep reading any new posts that people make.

This method works well for me, because I don’t always read the board on a regular basis. Sometimes I read a couple times a day or every day, but then sometimes I’m busy with work or school or other stuff and I might be away for a few days or weeks. A couple times I’ve been away for a few months. But then when I come back I can read any new posts in threads I’m subscribed to. It’s also interesting when a zombie thread I’m subscribed to gets resurrected by someone and a thread I don’t remember pops up on my User CP.
If I had thought of it years ago, I might have decided to unsubscribe from threads once they’ve been idle for a while. But now that I’m subscribed to so many, it would be a PITA to go through and manually subscribe one by one.

None. I don’t know how one subscribes to a thread and I have no clue why anybody would want to. I started using Tapatalk recently and on there it shows “Participated threads”, which is sort of useful. Is it like that?

Edit: OK, I see the dropdown menu in the “Additional options” thing. I can’t imagine being bombarded with notifications from the thousands of threads I must have responded to over the years, but each to his own.

Colophon, you can turn off all e-mail notifications.

I say patiently. Not pointing out at all that this was observed in the thread many times.

You are much kinder than I am, Mika.

I reaaaaaaaally wanted to be snarky and/or impatient. I decided to rise above. It was difficult. :stuck_out_tongue:

I appreciate the sacrifice.

Well, I’m off to categorize the thousands of emails I don’t get from my thread subscriptions.

About 5000. I just deleted a lot.

In some ways I wish there was an automatic unsubscribe after a period (12 months or such) after the last post in a thread.
