We have one 15" CRT television down in the den, attached to the DVD player.
There is also a Sony Watchman in the house. It hasn’t been used in several years.
I have a decent little condo (i don’t know how many square feet) in southern CA-- large living room, decent bedroom, small kitchen, large walk in closet-- and I actually have two TVs. (!!)
For years I’ve fallen asleep with the TV on. Still do. When I didn’t have a working TV in my bedroom, I feel asleep to shows on the laptop.
The new TV in the bedroom is a SMART TV, but if it’s so damn smart, why do I have to wait 10 minutes for the “smart” part to wake up and login to Netflix, Hulu+, and Amazon Prime?
I went to Best Buy planning to get a 14 or 16 inch screen for the bedroom, left with the Smart 26" TV. It’s awesome!
Thing is, I only watch TV at night or weekends. I’m usually working or out at a pub watching a sports game. I could really live without all the cable TV!
So, yes, I sort of like media around, I suppose…
None.
When I split up with my ex about 10 years ago, she got to keep the TV (along with most other things - I left the house with a couple of suitcases of stuff and that was about it - but that’s another story…) and for about a 3 month period afterwards I was simply too poor to buy a new one. When I got back on my feet again and had the money for a new TV, I realised I hadn’t really missed it anyway, so never bothered to get one.
Now I have a PC with a 24" screen in the living room that I use for playing DVDs (well, I’ve actually now ripped all my DVDs to .mp4 files on the PC, but same difference), and that’s it. Even that only gets used maybe once a week. I honestly don’t think I have the time any more to sit down and watch TV for any meaningful length of time.
One. A 26" LED TV in the living room.
Three. One in the basement living room, one in the main living room, and one in the master bedroom. Plus computers here and there that act like TV’s, since everything comes via Plex anyway.
6:
1 36" in the bedroom (flat screen, don’t know what kind of technology)
1 20" LED in the sewing room
1 48" in the living room (flat screen, don’t know what kind of technology)
1 CRT in the spare room (not hooked up)
1 CRT in the living room just hanging out in the entertainment center. The big TV doesn’t fit in the space and my husband hasn’t gotten around to tossing the old one yet. (we’ve had the big TV for about 7 years now. )
1 ancient 12" in the garage (not hooked up). It used to be the in the sewing room but I decided I needed a better one to go with the better cable reception.
For the most part TheElf is in charge of electronics. I only care about how to turn them on, off and how to get to NetFlix and the DVR.
42" Plasma with a Tivo, DVD player, and PS3 in the living room.
~26" CRT with a Roku in the bedroom. It won’t die. Has good picture (for a CRT) and good sound at least.
And more increasingly I watch shows on my 24" LCD computer monitor.
One 50" flat screen in the family room, one 32" flat screen in the bedroom. In the basement/laundry room/spare office/etc. I have an old Phillips analog that is still hooked up to a VCR and DVD player that I occasionally watch old VHS movies on when the cable is out.
