Thirteen. Born with an outhouse, now I don’t consider my home complete without a utility sink in the garage to rinse off my gardening tools and boots. Remembering the joy all downstate working men had when their organization turned Illinois for Truman, and Kaltenborne had to eat his hat.
Mamma got 18, starting with Teddy R., finishing as Bush II was trying to figure out how badly he had screwed us up in Iraq.
I was born in 1961, so there’s been Kennedy (the only one of whom I have absolutely no memory whatever), LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, GHW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush, and Obama.
8, but just barely - I was born two weeks before Nixon resigned.
As far as my parents were concerned, that was the best month ever.
- Another Truman baby checking in. I can remember watching Eisenhower’s first election on TV.
My great-grandmother (I can remember her just a tad, she died in 1952) checks in with 23. She was born in 1847 when Polk was president and died when Truman was in office. I’m cheating a bit perhaps by counting Cleveland twice.
Five, for me.
Eleven for me, though I don’t really remember Eisenhower. I do remember from JFK onward though.
I remember a few things from Nixon, the reelection and resignation. Was born during the LBH administration.
Isn’t this effectively a “How old are you?” thread?
I’m at 9 for each of Canadian PMs and US Presidents.
Pearson was PM when I was born (I removed the duplicate Trudeau).
Johnson was President.
I have no memory of either Pearson or Johnson being alive. But I do remember all of them after that including Trudeau and Nixon.
Ten for me.
There has yet to be a president younger than me. But this last one is cutting it REEEEEAL close.
Five. But I don’t remember anything of Reagan or Bush I.
Seven, starting with Ford in '75. I have clear memories of Reagan’s inauguration in 81.
12 - made Truman by a bit more than a year. I remember all the rest of them.
More of a “now that you are thinking about it in those terms don’t you feel old?” thread. And the answer is yes.
Sure is.
Nine, all of whom I remember except LBJ.
6 for me, was born a couple months prior to the 1980 election. Obviously remember all but Carter
9 (Johnson) for me . I’m old enough to remember the Watergate hearings being on TV, but young enough that I had no real idea what they were all about a the time.
Yes and no. The S didn’t stand for anything, but Truman himself wrote it as “S.”. The AP Style Guide says Harry S. Truman, but I’ve seen it both ways.
7, as I was apparently born during the Ford presidency. 6 Australian PMs in the same period, with an election due this year.
